The Magic Box

Hidden in plain sight,
Beside the crystal ball,
Beneath the candle’s light,
Protected by the wall,
Dwarfed by the books,
Not far from the stopped clock,
Next to an old coin
Which operates its lock,
Lies a magic object
Scarred by many knocks,
That holds a million mysteries
Entombed within a box

Shadowlands

Desert sands in deserted streets
Rippled by the winds of time
Shadowlands has an added treat
As the New Moon is sublime

Echoes fade as darkness falls
Edged by a brilliant blue
Bathing deserted streets and walls
In an electric cosmic hue

From silent alleys shadows appear
Of folk who decided to stay
Forgotten folk who applaud and cheer
The magic being brought this day

As one they laugh and dance and sing
Connected, together once more
The halo, corona, brilliant ring
Brings tears and rapturous applause

Within minutes the show comes to an end
Silence and dust settles all around
Strangers once again lose their friends
And their loneliness is found

Shadows leave those deserted streets
Crumbling bricks and dusty floors
With hopes of another miraculous treat
And the chance of opening doors

D Wallace Peach of Myths of the Mirror has provided the challenge to write something about the above image. I started writing, not knowing where I was going with this, but then it all seemed to come together. Shadowlands is a place within all of us, although not as apparent in some as it is in others. A simple smile can be like an eclipse to one of those ‘Shadow Folk’, just hoping to feel the magic of connection.

I Haven’t Really Watched The News

But when I have inadvertently switched it on, this is all I see…

Stockpiles
And doom and gloom
Leadership
And confidence looms
Negative this
And bad for that
Companies fleeing
Like escaping rats
Can’t go there
Mustn’t do this
What happens next
Is worse than this
No way forward
No way back
Half in half out
Must stay in tact
Media says failure due
But then they would;
It’s what they do
They love a good failure
This is plain to see
But their one-sided reports
Miss the positivity

We are being drip-fed negativity constantly.

Shine a Light on the good stuff!

I don’t do politics on my blog because everyone has a difference of opinion, and it is a wonderful fact that they do; but I think there is a very fine line between news and propaganda, and what I see, when I see it, seems very one-sided. Although that could just be me, with the wool only being pulled over one eye.

Regardless, here’s my Positivity Candle, with an imbued spell to diminish the gloom for the good of all…

A Moany Six Word Saturday post. (…With a positive slant!)

Vampyre Rose–Nonsense Prose (almost, but it rhymes)

Vampyre Rose
With a ring through her nose
And long pointed toes with teeth to match
Was out on the prowl
With eyes like an owl
And she started to growl as no-one was around to catch
Forlornly she walked
And balked as she talked
And sulked as she started to dash
It was so late at night
The Sun was almost in sight
And in fright she came out in a rash
She got back to her lair
Thinking how life was unfair
And slumped in a chair looking back
She was a hundred and two
And had nothing to do
‘Cept eat a sarnie or two – oh, and constantly count all her cash

(A bit of nonsense does wonders every now and then!)

Twilight Rainbow

Traffic lights and raindrops on the windscreen
Mix to create an enchanting scene
Of a twilight rainbow bathed in gold
With each of the colours equally bold
This rainbow is special as it has no end
No pot of gold a leprechaun tends
The magic is that it falls all around
Well, sometimes,
occasionally,
when the sun goes down
Remember the next time you see a rainbow like this
Its light is pure magic, so go on – make a wish!
