Searching for dragons

I’m still at the mercy of Blogger’s Block right now, pesky nuisance that it is. And, I’m sure that it isn’t only me affected… my Inner Sceptic is pointing out that something is being drip-fed to us all, via any number of clandestine ways, causing us not to think in our proper ways.

My Inner Spy is dropping clues left, right and centre as to these covert methods, but not completely stating “it’s in the water”; “don’t look at the flashing images”; or “the butler has the answer”. If my butler has the answer, I must state, I’ll never find it (the answer) as he’s (the butler’s) never around when I need him.

My Inner Artist, together with quite a few of those fine people who follow this blog, has / have mentioned looking for inspiration in nature… let the Spirit of the Trees be my guide. For those unfamiliar with the Spirit of the Trees, I see him / her / it / them as faces between and within the leaves. Sometimes I see only a face, sometimes I see a whole figure, and sometimes I see an animal.

It’s too late to go out exploring foliage now, so I had a look through some photos instead, and one in particular, of my old friend Splodge the Cat, caught my eye. And as coincidence has it, I caught Splodge staring / glaring at me through the window earlier today; he hasn’t called by for a visit for quite a few weeks now.

Here’s the photo… I think I’ve used it before:

Looking between the leaves behind him, and beside his right ear, is a prime example of the Spirit of the Trees. A tiny dragon… and further over to the left of the photo, as if stalking the dragon, is what appears to be the outline of another cat. And the more I look at the leaves, the more I see profiles of people’s faces. So much to see in such a small place.

However, nothing in this image is causing Blogger’s Block, as my Inner Spy inferred earlier. But something is… something that must be so obscure, we don’t notice it… but what? Maybe it’s a new icon that’s suddenly appeared that sends out a subliminal message… or perhaps, we’ve been programmed to activate Blogger’s Block whenever we see the colour green… or maybe there is something in the water we drink.

I wonder if you’ve noticed anything that may be contributing to this terrible scourge that’s seemingly affecting so many of us… if so, no matter how ridiculous it may seem, write about it in the comments.

Also, if you notice any Spirits of the Tree in the above photo, please tell me about them as well… I’d love to know what you see.

And finally, let me know if you spot any tpyos in this post – they too may be a clue (Or Fingers is trying to gain control again (Fingers is my Inner Typist) which needs sorting also).

As Fingers says…

Fool! Don’t you see now that I could have poisoned you a hundred times had I been able to live without you.

Or was it Fingers? I can’t seem to remember…

Splodge is so cute! And I think that explains the Blogger’s Blog – if Splodge hasn’t been around for a while, it must mean that he’s your blogging muse. Maybe you should put out a dish of tuna…

He is cute, but very grumpy, Diane.
You may be on to something, however. It is a bit coincidental him turning up like that, out of the blue…

For me…when I am really struggling…I find something I have never tried before. Especially in poetry. A form that is new to me, or one I have not had much success with in the past and give it a go. Having to be so concise [poetry demands that] with every word…and having to get it right at something I haven’t gotten right before…it seems to work for me. I plug away until I like the new poem. Then I seems to finds words coming from everywhere for other things. I recently did it with a sonnet. I posted it today. Not entirely happy with it, but my best effort at this form so far. Sonnets hate me. But after writing it, I find that the words are coming more in other projects.

Wow…what a rather long comment Tom. Sorry !!!!

Not a problem, Jo (and besides, it’s not that long a comment!)
I like to have a go at doing something different, and I like writing rhymes (I daren’t use the term poetry as my version of it infringes the trades description act, I feel!)
And thank you for your suggestion – I will look into it further… let’s see what I can come up with.

I see Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” in Splodge’s forehead. I’m immune to seeing pytos.

Ooo, I see all sorts of shapes in the serated joins of leaves, where the white gaps appear, Sir Aquatom, but the list would be endless once I started… Enough to say, I see birds, feathers etc,… and one big Ginger Cat… (I’d ask Fyrespike about the li’l Dragon, but he’s been far too tied up, I wonder if its one of the babies playing hide and seek? 🙂 ) … Fingers crossed (erm, not you Fingers.. I mean mine… ) your block … unblocks itself and mayhap t’Butler knows the reason and isn’t telling? I mean, Butlers always know everything… Parker’s always saying so, … Now, I’d best fly, and see if that baby dragons still In hiding… xPenx

It’s always the butler, Lady P. Fascinating about the Spirits though, when you really look, isn’t it?

I’ve written a lengthy screed, I mean, hopefully informative post, about this very issue tomorrow, Tom. It isn’t you. Really. It isn’t.

You have so many inner personalities Tom, it must be very crowded inside your head. One thing you don’t have at all is Banner Block. I love the toucan! Splodge’s no-nonsense stare is rather charming, too.

The Inners usually only gather in twos or threes, LA, so they aren’t that bad really…
Ah, yes, the headers. For this particular period with the blog (and I don’t know how long for as I’m always messing with the header!) I’ve gone for different images that may represent what’s within the sphere. There are about 30 different images – I like the toucan too!
      Splodge is no-nonsense all over.

Wow, what a face Splodge the Cat has there!! Ha. Oh, there is something about cats.

Drawing inspiration from nature? That’s what I like to hear 😉 It graciously offers so much to us. The Spirit of the Trees. Lovely. I do love trees, but then, I love all nature – and that’s not exactly a secret given my book! Sorry to hear you still have a block. I really hope that passes soon. Maybe another area of nature may help give you inspiration: the raindrops on the window, the ripples in a puddle, or maybe even listening to the sound of the rustling trees ?

Splodge is cool, Jennifer, but he will not allow anyone to go near him.
And thanks for your recommendations for areas of inspiration – all are worthy!
