The Reason

You may have noticed that for the last week or so, I’ve been posting the occasional one-hundred word post, which kind of tell a tale of sorts. This post is slightly longer than a hundred words (actually, it’s considerably longer); and you may have read one or two posts that were shorter or longer by a word (this was due to discrepancies between Live Writer and WordPress word counts. I just went with them; I’m not going to squabble over one word.)

The posts are parts of the story of my life, actually. Various things I’ve come across throughout my existence this time around.

And now, here’s the reason for all of the posts.

I’m trying a little experiment, you see. I heard that groan at the back there… I’m always trying experiments, as you may be aware, but this one’s a goodie! Well, I think so, anyway. It’s kind of a reader challenge, if you like.

Each post is based on a real event, a dream, a ‘revelation’ or a completely made up thought (complete fiction). A post will only fall into one of the categories; and a category may have been used only once or many times.

I wanted to keep the posts brief as there are so many, and I also wanted to write something further for my 101 Tasks in 1001 Days Challenge that I’ve all but forgotten about (number 31, write 50 100 word stories).

This reader challenge is, being quite dramatic, Me versus the Rest of the World.

I was going to run a poll, but decided against that as it would have been far too complicated; this is complicated enough.

Using the comments for this post (this one here; the one you’re reading!) below, all you have to do is say which post falls into which category. Simple! You get it right, you win on behalf of your team (The Rest of the World!). You get it wrong, I win on behalf of me (Me! (Whoever said there’s no I in team obviously hadn’t thought of a challenge like this one!!!)). And at the end of March, whoever has the most wins wins! Me, or the Rest of the World!

You can only submit your vote once, however… once per post that is, so you can comment more than once in this post if you need to go back and read one of the other posts again ( I’ll link to them all at the end of this waffle).

Phew.

Rules are complicated… they’re the reason I don’t do awards.

There’s no prize for all this hard work, by the way… it’s only an experiment after all. I’m testing my writing, and I want to know if I’ve got you where I want you, or need to have further practice. In a nice way, of course!

I’ll post a special something if the Rest of the World wins; and maybe something else if I do. We’ll see.

OK. The posts are:

A) The House
B) Another Staircase
C) The Corridor
D) Anticipation
E) The Book
F) The Comet
G) Existence
H) The Plummet

The categories, with a little more detail are:

1) A real event – Something that I have physically experienced
2) A dream – One of my dreams (remember, I have many!)
3) A revelation – A subconscious message that has come to me through meditation
4) A made up thought – Just an idea I had once

  • Remember:
You can cast a vote for one post only once, but you can vote for any or all of the eight posts listed above.
Each post will belong to only one category.
A category may have been used only once or more than once, there are no red herrings. (And by categories, I mean the four above (1 to 4) – the blog categories for the posts themselves don’t actually mean anything for this challenge…)
And (as if on a classic television quiz show!) I will only accept your first answer… if you vote again for the same post, it will not count – so be careful. Mwahaha. That evil laugh seems to be following me around.

I will not be responding to comments regarding the votes themselves for obvious reasons, but please vote as you feel and not as a previous reader may have commented (if anyone does, that is. If no-one votes, I win by default! Mwahahaha!)

Yes, this will go on until March 31st, 23:59 UK time, or thereabouts.

I’ll be keeping a tally behind the scenes of who voted which way, and whether the vote was a win for me, or for the Rest of the World!, and in Early April I will reveal the results.

I do enjoy a blogging challenge every now and again, they help me to Feel Good (number 20 in my other challenge)… I hope you can participate in my latest one …

Now, shall we see who wins?

Ah, sorry VK, not thick at all.
The thing with instructions is they’re OK if they’re clear, but if not, they can be a nightmare. I thought I’d gotten them as clear as I could, but I haven’t. I see that you’ve cast your ‘votes’ already on the posts themselves, which is fine (and thank you very much for doing so!)
I did mean to ask that the votes are made in writing (as you have done!) in the comments for this post, ‘The Reason’, the links to the other posts were provided if further reference was needed, but I’ll accept the votes in those posts as well!
I’ve entered your votes into my hefty number-crunching computer program, and eagerly await the results next week.
Thanks once again, and I am sorry if I confused you with my rubbish instructions! 😀
Voting all done, I hope you have a great evening and weekend now, VK!

Thanks, Sue. You could have voted in this post’s comment, but in the other posts themselves is fine!
I’m sure I could have worded the instructions a little easier, but I think my brain has been a bit scrambled of late too!
I’m off to gather your votes and register them in my super duper compuder!
