“The Illusion of Reality!” declared the compere.
Three spotlights lit up three different areas of the stage, the rest of the place was in total darkness. The circles of light began to move, and danced around each other on the stage, all moving in separate figure of eight patterns, and all managing to overlap in the centre.
Two dark and still figures could be seen on the stage at the point where the lights overlapped, but then disappeared into the darkness as the lights moved away.
The spotlights began to shrink in size, and started to move around faster. All keeping to the same pattern, and all moving at the same speed.
Within no time, the circles had become lines, the figures of eight had become a solid shape, like a flower.
In the centre of this flower of light, there were now three people.
Two standing, and one hovering just above them.
The figure who was hovering raised his hands into the air, and spread wide his fingers and thumbs. The two figures beneath him crumpled flat to the ground. They weren’t people. They were paintings on two black sheets.
The hovering man was another illusion. A hologram who simply dispersed into thousands of shards of tiny white lights.
The stage became dark once again as the spotlights faded.
The compere spoke for a second time, “The Reality of Illusion. The Illusion of Reality. Can we be certain of what we are seeing all of the time, when we can not be certain of what we are seeing some of the time?”

This rather random post has been created for Sideview’s Weekend Theme, which this week is ‘the illusion of reality’. I’m now going to lie down in a darkened room after seeing hundreds and thousands of moving dots, lines and images!
