The Spirit of the Tree Reappears

I’m watching you almost every day
I listen to every word you say
You hear me rustle as you walk on by
When it rains, I can keep you dry
I do not move as I’m everywhere
See a tree ~ and I’m there
Look through the leaves ~ see the space
Then notice the smile upon my face
I will always smile when you look for me
For I’m the Spirit of the Tree

Have you ever looked at a pattern and seen faces appear within the design? I see faces between the leaves when I look closely at trees; there are a lot of faces in that picture above. One is clearly visible in the top left-hand corner, within the red leaves. Another figure is in the bright green foliage halfway down the right-hand side, with a (I hope he doesn’t mind me saying) a rather large nose…and there is another face directly above him, looking at us.  And another comes into view in the same area.

Different faces, but they all belong to the Spirit of the Tree.

A lot of trees have been removed in town today to make way for some flood defences. Although the flood defences are ‘apparently’ needed (I’ve never actually seen a flood there, but they could be defences for further up or down stream I suppose), I’m not entirely certain the chopping down of healthy trees along the riverbank is absolutely necessary, especially as they had just started to develop their Autumnal look.

But hey… Such is progress in an ever changing world?

Time to leave the trees alone! The whole environment as a matter of fact. We won’t have any left if we keep at it! And yes, I see faces in the trees all the time much like the clouds. Have you ever hugged a tree and put your ear to the bark and listened? Quite amazing! Good post T….VK

I agree, VK. I find myself very surprised when I notice that magnificent trees that have been there for years are suddenly gone… and no, I haven’t listened to the bark… I’ll have to try that sometime. And yes, I see faces in the clouds as well!

    Hi Tom,
Sorry about when you came by earlier, I was doing some more renovations at the very same time you were writing that first comment I think, I had linked the graphic in the post the wrong way…had to delete and start again. But I got your newer one, thanks so much, yes I love that name, a beautiful little place to visit too.
Soon the trees will be even more gorgeous with all the changing colors of leaves, I dont really recall seeing faces in the leaf parts, but I have seen them in the wood, funny how sometimes if we look at something inanimate long enough it seems to move, has that ever happend to you?
    Big hugs, Nikki

Ah, it’s not a problem Nikki. I’d just installed some anti-virus software on my PC, and thought it may have been that causing the problems (I’ve also had a few with WordPress over the last couple of months, so thought it may have been that too!)
With regards to the faces in the wood, I tend to see them more in the older trees, the really gnarled ones, but I can clearly see the faces within and between the leaves. And regarding the inanimate objects moving – yes, I’ve experienced that too! Strange sensation!

    Good poem my friend! 🙂

Thanks for the visit and comment! 🙂

Yeah I agree about Ambulance crews! 🙂

Yeah the dream was interesting. Part of the goodies in the catalogue was a boat containing an olive green sleeping bag, a fur blanket and a gold Apache pilot’s helmet complete with eye display! 🙂

At the moment the books send me from excitement at the thought of publishing to abject terror at the thought of publishing! 🙂

If I go ahead I’ll have to come off benefits – I’ve been on them most of my life – and then I’ll have to make the money last, pay tax and insurance etc. Which I have never done before! 😦

I have never been rich, I struggled to find work and was exploited dreadfully by employers, so the thought of flying without a parachute has left me feeling very vulnerable…

Thanks for the best wishes my friend – they worst that they can say is No…

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

      But it’s worth a try never-the-less, Prenin!
I’m interpreting your dream as a message to look out for luxuries… things are looking good!

I always look at every living thing this way, Tom. It’s creepy, sort of. 🙂

      I don’t think it’s creepy, Andra. Well, it can’t be… I do it! 😉 😀

I seem to lack your ability to see faces in the position of a tree’s leaves, possibly because I’m too distracted by the bags tangled in their branches over here in Gotham City.

Yes, that is a strange phenomenon you have going on there in New York, LA! Perhaps the bags are keeping ‘those with the faces’ away… unless, no, this couldn’t be right… ‘those with the faces’ are keeping the bags there… hmmm…

Ah, sorry about that – I needed to look that one up! – the bags may have nothing to do with ‘those with the faces’…

I think the trees should be left alone and for man to fine other ways to create their defenses.
    Great post, Tom! 🙂

Trees are awesome, & this piece expressed it well (& I loved your multicoloured writing).

To me, they are quiet, solid, vast of embrace, strong foundationed – everything I’d love a man to be.

Thanks, Noeleen – I tried to get the colours in the text to match the colours in the photo, in a round-about way!
And yes, trees are strong, non-judgmental, and calming…

Thank you! Yes, things don’t look the same without the leaves, do they Kate? And then, we get used to it just as the new leaves start to appear!

The picture is GORGEOUS!!! and yes! I can see a few faces..I even see one that’s a little sad 😦 I love trees for some reason…love drawing them..love clouds too..and dogs…but yes Spirit of the trees ..I’m sure they exist. I don’t understand chopping down trees either..it’s sad when it’s done in the name of development..ugh!

I see faces too…and shapes..on tiles, sometimes in the tarot cards, the obvious clouds…I must try looking at trees next..to see if I can spot the Spirit of the Tree 🙂

    Lovely post!
