On other things

Regular readers of (and visitors to) my blog may already know this, but new(er) readers may be slightly confused as to just what, exactly, this blog is all about. Even my about page doesn’t really go into that much detail, either – although, I must admit, it is due for a complete overhaul any day now.

The thing is, even I have no idea, exactly, what this blog is all about. It began, exactly as explained in my current About page, as an experiment. A place for me to practice doing something I hadn’t done before in a way to get to know certain aspects of myself that I wasn’t aware of before.

I’ve certainly learned about the Inner Aspects… Fingers, my Inner Typist; Thomasina, my Inner Woman; Tomanova, my Inner Casanova; Tom the Geek, my Inner Geek; my Inner Zombie; my Inner Leader of the Opposition; my Inner Superhero (Aquatom); my Inner Scientist; and, of course, T L Merriman, my Inner Writer.

I enjoy writing. I really do.

It allows me to visit worlds where only I know, and gives me the opportunity to describe those worlds in, hopefully, clear, simple and visually appealing ways.

It allows me to be creative, and grab different parts of everyday life, mix them together, and come up with something slightly familiar yet somewhat different at the same time.

It allows me to experiment in more ways than one…

It allows me to test my typing skills (and that of Fingers!) and type as long as possible without any errors finding.

And it allows me to escape reality.

There. That’s what my blog is.

It’s an escape.

A Surreal Reality – a getaway from it all kind of place.

It isn’t meant to be serious, but sometimes it is. It isn’t meant to be comical, but sometimes it’s that too.

I like to be creative, and have a go at creative things. I may not be the best, but I don’t mind that. I still have a go – there’s no point giving up just because you aren’t the best, is there?

It’s the creative process I like. Bringing the ideas forward, however strange, daft and unbelievable they are, and running with them anyway.

Serious blogs are for serious stuff.

This blog’s different. It’s seriously surreal. And I like it, even if I do say so myself!

I’ve recently started following some new blogs myself, which are all in with the mix on my Links Page, and I still have to formally introduce myself to the owners of some of those blogs (which I will do in the next couple of weeks – commenting for me has been a little hit-and-miss lately – more miss than hit as well; just ask my regular commenters!). Once things settle down a little (as if things will ever settle down in this Mansion of mine…!) my blogging, visiting and commenting will become much more streamlined, and evenly spread.

Well, I do live in a Surreal Reality where anything and everything is possible.

I mean to say – look, I have a blog for starters! And I’ve had it for a few years now.

New readers and faithful regulars both – thank you for your time. You may now return to your normal lives.
