Wine

The red wine was warm, sweet and sickly.

Not to his taste at all, although he pretended to enjoy it. He smiled at his companion after taking another sip. He liked this part of the chase; the teasing. He knew he would be quenching his real thirst very shortly.

This is my first attempt at writing a piece of flash fiction for Redโ€™s Flash in the Pan challenge. The limit for this particular challenge, Wine, is fifty words. I just about made it with 49.

No, it did not go to any email I answer, which means you probably sent it to the spam address attached to Gravatar. Let me see if I can rescue it.

Thanks, Red. I’ve received an email from Val, so it looks like you sorted it – sorry about the confusion there!
I’m going to stick with the blog-hop for now; I want to practice writing first – the flashes seem a good way to practice fitting in what I want to say in a limited amount of words! ๐Ÿ™‚

it’s amazing how many styles of writing there are – i could never do flash fiction – poetry and lyrics and weird stories yes – but – Flash fiction takes a certain je ne c’est quoi ? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, there are lots of different styles, Cat. I like writing short stories, but, like this flash piece, the full story goes beyond the number of words. I would love to be able to get a full story in, say, a hundred words. Fifty is definitely pushing it at the moment!

I imagine the next fifty words in this tale get very R-rated , Tom โ€” and hopefully it’s not because you hurled bad wine!

Quite possibly, LA, although where the tale goes after those 49 words is up to the reader! I can say there was no hurling in my version, however!

I like it … and I would have done the same thing because warm, sweet, and wine just don’t go well together … then again, the chase would be one of the few places for it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I like wine as well, Lady P. I’d mistyped there, and entered wind instead. Wine glass, bottle or cup… it all tastes the same to me. Well, each different wine tastes different, but the same wine… I’m rambling. There’s a way to drink wine properly, I think. And there’s my way…
