Under Pressure…!

Pressure makes us do some funny things… say some funny things. Being on a TV quiz show, against the clock, with gazillions of viewers watching must add a little ‘pressure’. Why else would a contestant answer the following:

Host: How much does an ounce of gold weigh?
Contestant: Fourteen ounces.

Host: What ‘S’ is the nearest star to Earth?
Contestant: Saturn.

Host: What is the only even prime number?
Contestant: Nine.

Host: Name a game played in the dark.
Contestant: Charades.

Host: Which country lies directly east of South Korea?
Contestant: North Korea.

Host: Name an animal with really good sight.
Contestant: Bat.

Host: Which British Prime Minister famously said “We have become a grandmother”?
Contestant: John Major.

Host: Name something you often misplace in your car.
Contestant: The steering wheel.

The above were ‘borrowed’ from the book Universally Challenged by Wendy Roby, I may have posted some before, but I’ve been howling with laughter as I wrote this post. Howling with laughter is a good way to release pressure, and obviously a good way to feel good! Apart from the aching belly, but really, that feels good too! Ooh, me belly!

Which brings me to my next writing challenge. I don’t know if anyone is taking part in these, but I’ll keep adding them, just in case. They’re only for ideas for posts to be linked to for my forthcoming ‘party of a thousand parties’ in just over a fortnight… you must have heard of it by now… anyway, this theme / subject / topic / prompt is slightly different. Write a post including the phrase ooh, me belly.

Random, I know.

Not as random as the other two prompts, ‘The fun side to a bad hair day’ and ‘Dashing through the Snow’, but slightly random never the less. And I plan on adding more random prompts over the next few days.

Well, it all helps in the long run, I suppose!

But no pressure! This is all meant to be fun!

Oh, and can you guess where this view is?

Contestant: Erm…
Host: The clock has started counting down

Andra’s right. It’s looking east up the west side of 42nd Street — across from the Port Authority at 8th Avenue. The spirally tower at the top left is where the ball drops in Time’s Square on New Year’s Eve. Funny, I haven’t been around much, but when I do show up you post a picture of my town you rascal you.

Ah, the party! Glad you ask, Andro.
I’m throwing a party on the blog December 21 to celebrate anything, really. It’s really just a way for others to come here and post links to their favourite posts, or other favourite sites… have a chat with other bloggers here… post videos, jokes, that kind of thing. Just a bit of fun to celebrate December 21st, which also happens to be the day the Mayan calendar reaches the end of one of it’s cycles. Some see this as the end of the world, which is one of the party themes I’m going with. It’s a feel good thing to counter any kind of fear that has been generated for the day. You are more than welcome to call by!

My favorite has to be the first . . . how much does an ounce of gold weigh? 😀

And the view definitely looks like the BIG Apple to me.
