“Hmmm…” pondered Rishard Púbol, the bespectacled detective with the French sounding first name and Spanish sounding surname. He was neither French nor Spanish, however, instead hailing from the ancient city of Deva Victrix, otherwise known as Westchester, or simply Chester, in Cheshire, close to the border with Wales.
“Ahhh…” he pondered with aplomb, weighing up all he was weighing up, dotting Ts and crossing Is whilst he was at it.
“I see…” Rishard pursed his lips, and looked pensively at what wasn’t before him.
“Yes!” He confirmed loudly to himself, causing all bystanders to jump a little, startled.
“Of course!” Rishard punched through the air before him.
Detective Púbol wasn’t really well known for his communication skills. He wasn’t really well known as a detective, for that matter, but he kept himself to himself, and didn’t mind. When he got around to it, he was good at his job. He could work out exactly what had happened.
“This…” he said, pointing upward, “is obvious!”
All those around gathered in, waiting for his revelation, as though they were at a Cluedo Convention.
“The portrait is missing.”
And he was right. The portrait WAS missing. Always one to get things right, Rishard Púbol.

So, what happened to the portrait then? Who was the portrait of? And what on Earth is this post all about?
Well, read on, and most questions will be answered. Maybe.

Lately, I’ve been posting a ‘portrait’ on a Monday, and then using that as a theme for my post on a Tuesday… trying to link it in, yet make it different at the same time. Last night, I didn’t have time to create a portrait, let alone post one, so the day had to go by, post free.
But, no portrait prompt should have meant no portrait prompt post – but no. I decided to use the missing portrait as the prompt for my post and this is it! Maybe the portrait was ‘taken’ by the mysterious Henrietta Gregory – or maybe the portrait would have been of Henrietta, had it been created. We will never know. Henrietta’s still not been back yet, by the way, so it is doubtful that she would be a master art thief, doubtful but still possible all the same… she’s still a bit of a mystery, that character right now.

Speaking of characters, Rishard Púbol started out as plain Richard Pubol, but I did an internet search to make sure the character didn’t exist elsewhere (strange things like that tend to happen to me!) and I discovered Púbol is the name of a small town in Catalonia, Spain. According to Wikipedia, and verified elsewhere, the Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí bought Púbol Castle for his wife, Gala, in 1969.
I thought ‘Yes, that name will do!’ There’s nothing like including a nod to a surrealist, however by chance it is found, in a post on a blog that delves into a Surreal Reality almost dalí . Sorry, daily, not dalí.
