Number Thirteen

Number 13.

The postman dreaded number thirteen.

Not that he was really superstitious or anything, but there was a certain thing about number thirteen that he wasn’t particularly keen on. He had a letter to deliver, and the thing was in the garden.

He posted the other letters in the road first, and then it was time to face his greatest fear.

He opened the gate, and stepped on the first flagstone of the crazy paved path. The first one was fine, but all of the others were unsteady, and if he wasn’t careful, the thing would trip him up.

Standing by for the thing, as I want to make certain it does not trip me up as well.

Ooops! And I thought all posties were good “Dog-Fearing” posties who rose early and ran fast!

Icewolf, they tend to run even faster if the thing catches them out!

    Ooohhh!

Why are you suddenly so small?

I was trying out a little new theme, but have decided to switch back. The font size was, as you correctly say Tilly, so small it gave me eye-strain, and the theme wasn’t geared up for mobile viewing, so the very small font was ridiculously miniscule, causing double eye-strain. Back to normal now though! 🙂

I was born on the thirteenth, and this blog also started on the thirteenth, so I agree with you, Alannah. The postman dreaded more the thing rather than the number…

Lucky 13! Nice Tom. Two people who meant a lot to me, were also born on the 13th and Dad is the 31st which is just 13 backwards 😉

It’s also my brother’s birthdate, and my parents wedding date / anniversary, so lucky thirteen indeed! 😀

Gosh, I’ve had a tumble or two on a lose flagstone. Once in Rochester with a crowd to watch! What fun! Nice tale with a twist at the end!

Thanks, Susan! It’s always ‘better’ to have a slip-up with an audience… I used to do it often! 😀

Thirteen has never bothered me that much.. I have even been known to also walk UNder Ladders too, 😉 But first made sure no man with paint pot was on them.. Im not that silly! 😉 ..
I used to live at a number 16 opposite a number 13.. I married the boy from number 13 and so its been pretty lucky for me 🙂

I’m superstitious with regards to ladders, broken mirrors, and walking between two posts (or having a post pass between me and another person if we are walking together!). I’m cagey on walking on cracks in the footpath and seeing a single magpie. And I’m wary on Friday 13th, but generally fine with 13. We think some odd things, don’t we?! Glad to hear that number 13 is OK with you, Sue! 🙂

Yes I have to admit to the Magpie thing.. Im always looking for a second one.. 🙂 And it just goes to show how when we are taught these things how our thought patterns keep hold of them…. Shows just how powerful those indoctrinated thoughts can be.. 😉
