Recycled Cupid

Continuing with my Valentine’s Week theme, I rejigged my header again. Long time visitors may recognise Cupid or Eros or whatever he wants to be called nowadays from my header around Valentine’s last year.

Time, or rather the lack of it, prevented me from creating a new and different image to use, so I’ve decided on a little recycling. The lettering’s different this year, and the hearts are new, so it isn’t all old stuff.

Which has prompted a rather nifty, money saving idea which may come in handy in the future if it takes off.

If you send a Valentine’s card this year, don’t write on the card who it is addressed to. Custom has it that you don’t sign your name anyway, but if there also isn’t an addressee’s name on the card, and just a simple message, such as ‘Be my Valentine’ or ‘I heart U’ or ‘I watch you through the window’ (or other, equally sinister messages), the cards can be re-used again. It’s probably better to re-use them the following year, rather than passing them straight on to someone else, but thousands of pounds (or insert your own currency here: _________) will be saved in the long run.

And nobody knows who the cards are from anyway so it doesn’t matter. Unless, of course, you were to receive back the very card that you sent.

But then, if that happened, that would show you that Cupid’s magic really works!

Hi Shree… it wouldn’t be of any use if you didn’t send any out… but it works in theory!

It’s a handy money saving tip, Elaine!
Husbands and wives can send the same ones year after year to each other without spending another penny, if they so desired! 🙂

Social networking saves trees. Just say Happy Valentines Day online to all friends. If they arent into social networking its their loss. Except that i wouldnt omit sending an actual card to ones spouse…or momma
    LOL! 🙂

That’s all it needs, a quick Happy Valentine’s, and have done with it! I like the tree saving aspect of it! 😀

    Excellent idea!
Plus what Madie said, that social networking saves trees. That’s pretty true – hadn’t thought about that…

The social networking one is even easier as we don’t have to go anywhere to choose the card in the first place!

Thanks, Susan. To be honest, I can’t really see the point in sending a card and not signing your name… I’d like to know as well!

Great idea–sort of. I had a couple of friends I SHARED Christmas cards with this way, but we knew who we were Only the YEAR was added on the card each time it was passed back and forth. But then, that was when we MAILED cards..

Tess, I’d heard of a couple of friends who used to send the same Christmas card to each other every year since wartime, I believe. The card is less of a card nowadays, and more of an encyclopedia in size, as they added a message each year as well. It is fun doing that though!
