Caught Up In Circles

Confusion is nothing new.

So sang Cyndi Lauper in the song ‘Time After Time’, which was going to be the title of this post, and then I thought the title I went with had just a little more oomph.

Every now and then, I find myself ahead of time. I have time on my hands. I can do whatever I need to do, and still have hours left to do it all again if I wanted to.

Lately, I’m meeting myself coming backwards. I’ve gone full circle, and instead of time being on my hands, I am now, once again, at the mercy of time.

I start to do something, check the time, and notice ninety minutes have gone by. It was only a three minute job – why did it take ninety minutes?

I’ve stopped asking.

I know, that soon, things will flip again, and I’ll be ahead of time. Again.

For a while.

Then, things will flip again, and I’ll be trying to catch up again.

I need to find the middle ground, but until I do, I’ll be lurching from racing-dude to taking-it-easy-man every other minute / day / week / month or so.

I don’t notice the transitions – I just find myself inside these little ‘chronal pockets’ – I’m either slowly watching things fly by me at warp speed, or I’m stuck in a slow motion world.

Things are flying by me right now. Even now that I schedule these posts, and I’m ahead of the game in writing the post, I’m behind on reading and commenting on the blogs I follow.

I fall behind.

The second hand unwinds.

The drum beats out of time.

I will get back to visiting and commenting very soon.

Time after time…

I’ve noticed the same phenomenon at times . . . or time after time.

Nancy, it’s strange how often it comes round!

Well my friend…Take ‘time’ to delve into the whole metaphysical truth about time. There is no such thing as time 🙂 There is no past or future only now. Brilliant mankind created time to make it easier for us to live by….So really you are neither behind or ahead, just being in the now, so not to worry. Continue onward Captain T…..VK

I love the concept of there only being ‘now’, VK… and if I didn’t feel the need to rush everywhere I’d love to have a go at living it!
One day, I will. Or I already am and only think I’m rushing…

Haha, I got the like button from my cell phone, but I messed up the comment…had to run to my laptop.
It’s okay, Tom. Time treats all of us like that…your not alone. 😉 😉

    Hi Tom! 🙂

Tempus Fugits as it may and all our dreams do fade away.
    And with them our immortality.

    God Bless my friend! 🙂

It always sneaks up when we least expect it to, though, Andra!
Maybe if we were always ready for it, it wouldn’t catch us out… or maybe that’s just me!

Time is an illusion caused by the passage of history…. 🙂 And it is so good to discover somebody else is having the problems you describe, I thought I was all alone and cracking up! The workplace is either one extreme or the other passing time-wise. Driving this Icewolf crazy! Let me know if you find any answers to this strangeness will you lol 🙂

Yes, we do tend to think that it’s only ourselves affected by this bizarre time-thing, Icewolf – but it affects every one!
I found myself this evening describing feeling confined by time which makes no sense at all. I’m more for feeling free… and that’s how I’m looking at things from now on. Hopefully, this will be first way to get rid of this strangeness once and for all!

We trap ourselves in time Aquatom…it doesn’t have to be that way we just have to look and live beyond the clock and our conditioning over the years 🙂 We can free ourselves if we really want to…it just takes…time! 🙂

Time’s a paradox, Icewolf. I really need to free myself!
