One Minute Ramble: The Is have it!

This post isn’t meant as a criticism to poor spellers. I’m one at times, so I’d only be criticising myself if I was to do that to all folk who happen to spell the odd word incorrectly.

I would, however, like to share something I read today, which made me chuckle… and then wonder ‘what were they thinking?’

It was a boring document I was reading, so I’ll just gloss over that part, but the line that made me take in a sharp breath ended:

… so those are the details aye would like you to use from now on…

Aye.

Now if I was going to hazard a guess as to how to spell ‘I’, I’d have probably gone with the other one… the eye, not the aye. But we’re all different.

Maybe the writer’s mind had wandered… mine does that on numerous occasions – not only when writing – and I very often find myself saying something utterly bizarre based on something I’d just nutmeg. I mean noticed… just saw a jar of ground nutmeg there. Nope, actually I didn’t… aye must be hallucinating.

I wonder though… how many other one-letter words are there that could be mis-spelled? Hmmm…

Maybe he is a pirate…..Aye Matey….I know what you will be doing for the next couple of days. Compiling that list of words. I suppose the words past and passed would qualify? VK 🙂

Oo Argh! I hadn’t thought of it from that angle, VK!
Well past and passed are both more than one-letter-long words, so that rules them out from this list, but yes, I can see them both being used incorrectly. I think I have these two down just about right, although I have to think twice when using them to make sure. Its and it’s also flummox me in a similar manner. Its the apostrophe… see? 😉

    Spelling is a pain.

I have a Facebook friend who is a lovely woman, but I think she has learning issues as her spelling is a nightmare!!! 🙂

I spend longer translating what she’s written than I do anyone elses missives, but I mostly make sense out of it! 🙂

    God Bless!

Isn’t it just, Prenin? What with that and typing we’re already onto a loser! I just typed ‘Prebib’ by the way. Sigh.
