The Object that Fell from the Sky

Many, many, many, many years ago, I bore witness to my first ever extra-terrestrial mystery. I describe it as extra-terrestrial as I can not think, even to this day, what it was.

I would have thought I’d made the whole thing up had it not been for one of my friends seeing the very same thing, although he was in a completely different place to me.

We were children. Well, older rather than younger, but still at school. We were doing the usual kids things, all on the streets playing hide and seek or something. We played it differently, where we were in two teams, and could hide over a large area – even in different streets. If we were spotted by someone on the other team, we were captured, and taken back to ‘base’. We could be ‘freed’ by another team member, and then ‘catch’ the one who was holding us captive. It was a very technical game.

It was early evening, and dark.

I was walking down one of the streets when I noticed something bright and red, about the size of the Moon (perspective-wise) literally drop out of the sky, and behind the houses. It was simply circular in shape, and it had no ‘tail’ or anything following it. There was also no sound… no engine noise if it was an aircraft, or no crackling thundering noise if it was a meteorite.

It appeared to be so big, I was expecting to hear an explosion when it landed, as it fell so quickly… imagine seeing something the size of the Moon drop from the sky within a second or two… that was what I saw… but no explosion came. It was just the big red round orb that dropped from the sky and nothing else.

I decided to head back home, really to see if anybody else had seen the same thing.

I got back to my home avenue, and saw my friend, who was on the opposing team. He was pale. All he said was “I’m not playing now, I’ve just seen something terrifying.”

He said nothing more, but I knew he’d seen the same thing I had.

I never saw anything like that again. I never read anything about it, and nobody else mentioned seeing it. But that cool, clear, dark night, a very large bright red object literally fell from the skies.

This week, I’m revealing secrets. Sherri has challenged me to do this, to reveal five in total. This is the fourth one… and the third with the connection being ‘red’.

I’m glad they didn’t abduct you, Tom. They abducted a friend of mine. Or so she says.

As a child, I was one to chase after balloons. But perhaps if you had gone to investigate, you wouldn’t be telling this story.

I’m glad I wasn’t abducted as well, CM… although, would I know if I had been?
      What if what I’ve written about wasn’t what I saw… eek…

I saw a couple of weird things when I was a kid: When on holiday I saw a meteorite tumble into the atmosphere and glow brightly like a piece of burning coke before it vanished in a scatter of smaller objects! 🙂

The second was a light disk that shot down the road where I lived about level with the top of the shallow valley where our house was.

Turned out to be a layer of mist just above us, so the disk might have been a light shining from a car that was reflecting off it, but who’d point a light upwards???

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

That’s the thing about these odd things that we see, Prenin. Even the most rational explanation seems to be way off the mark, yet we go along with it.
If it had been a light off a car, surely you’d have seen more than one?

        Exactly! 🙂

I have a ‘gift’ that means I see things other people don’t… 🙂

        God Bless!

    Glad there was no explosion or abduction. Holy moly. We may never have had the pleasure of knowing you. You’ve had a weird-filled life, haven’t you, Tom. Weird things have followed you all your life. {scratches head}

Goodness Tom, that is so strange. If only you could find out more about it. Did you ever watch that film ‘Fire In The Sky’ about the true alien abudction story that happened in America in the 1970s? It’s so scary and fascinating. So glad that didn’t happen to you…and I love your special effects with the pics Tom…got a real surprise there at the end, haha 😀

I haven’t seen that film, Sherri, but I’ll look out for it.
And thanks… I just wanted to do something different with the picture, and it kind of fits in with the post as well!

Fascinating. Strange that there was the mutual agreement to shut up and not compare notes. Is there any way of getting in touch with the friend? It would be really interesting, now, to compare notes and speculate on possible explanations.
I had one flying saucer with a disappointingly humdrum explanation of a candle-paper bag balloon and an inversion layer, and one doing an instant right-angle turn for which no reasonable explanation has yet come to light.

I’ve not seen him for years, Col, he moved to New York in the late eighties, I believe.
We still encounter those odd things without explanation, Col. We probably always will…

How very strange, I have no idea what it could have been. The fact that your friend saw it too, means that you couldn’t have imagined it.

Exactly, Elaine – that was all the confirmation I needed.
Still no idea what it was, though.

It’s still out there Tom….just waiting for the time to abduct you! It was red…I think it ties in with your aura…perhaps you should pursue this in more detail…these things are never just coincidences!

I have no doubt it – or they – are still out there, Icewolf. Eek.
