Twinkle Twinkle, little MIGRAINE

The posts this week have been brought to you by the number three.

NO! NO! NO! This isn’t Sesame Street.

The posts this week have been brought to you with the underlying themes of the Moon and the Elements. You may or may not have noticed, but they have!

The thing is, this week I’ve been afflicted by a recurring nightmare. Well, a recurring migraine, actually, but depending on the severity (of either) they can amount to the same thing.

I’m trying my hardest to post every day this year. Yes, I know I’ve already missed some days, but I hope to be able to make up for that by posting twice a day on occasion.

Yesterday’s post, I’m sorry to say, was all I could muster. The day’s before was a repost, although I had altered a few words so it would better tie in with the theme.

I had a strobing lightning flicker right the way across my vision, which moved over to the right-hand upper corner of my vision. I couldn’t see clearly whilst it was across my vision, which is understandable, but when it moved to the top, my vision kind of ‘folded’ on itself, so part of what I was looking at became invisible.

I was watching a quiz show on TV, and the score the team had was 34. I could see the 3 clearly, but the 4 just wasn’t there.

Not only that, one of the contestants’ head had disappeared, and she was just a frock on screen. My mind must have been filling in the background, but must have decided the head wasn’t worth being reconstructed. That’s my mind for you!

Don’t worry, I had no headache or sickliness or dizzy feeling or anything, just the flicker, which I think was triggered by my catching sight of a reflected light bulb on a mirror. I remember the moment well.

I’m taking things easy tonight, just in case the flicker returns. It’s a good job this is typed and not hand-written, as that last sentence could have had a slightly different meaning, especially with my handwriting. Although, on the other hand, maybe not…

I’ll be replying to your comments and visiting again soon, but I need to regain my strength for next week’s posts. I wonder what theme I’ll be using then? Hmmm…

Oh, and just before I finish: this post, believe it or not, does tie in with this week’s theme. (Not number three, before you ask!). It isn’t about the Moon, but by saying it isn’t about the Moon kind of draws your attention to the Moon; but it isn’t about the Moon. No, this post is about the element of surprise… by not having anything to do with the theme, it actually ends up being so! Surprise! How I managed to bring this around to that is beyond me right now.

I’m orf to lie down in a darkened room. See you soon (most, if not all!)

Feel good now!

I sympathise with the migraines. Touch wood I haven’t had a bad one for a while, but mine used to start with a strange flickering shape moving across my vision (sort of like castle crennelations) ending up with me losing some of my vision. I would look at something and half of it would be invisible. I would then have the dreadful headache. Nowadays it is just the occasion suggestion of the flickering and no headaches.

I’ve only suffered from the flickerings, Elaine, awful things that they are. They aren’t as bad or as frequent now, but they’re lingering still.

Holy migraines, Tom. Sorry to hear of your pain. I used to get them but a long time ago. None since. Touch wood. Do rest till it’s all gone. Lucky it’s the weekend. 🙂

It’s after the weekend now, Tess, and hopefully, things seem a little better. No flickering now, just a little tension headache. Sigh. And I’ve just said I didn’t have the headaches as well…

Something thing can’t be rushed, Tom. They take their own sweet time. 💡

Gosh, Tom. Migraines suck. I get them, too. Hope you can rest in a dark room, eyes closed, ice pack on head, all weekend.

    Hi Tom! 🙂

Sorry you’re not feeling well: I just get blinding headaches (not for a while thank God!) and have to spend a day with my eyes shut… 😦

God Bless my friend and get well soon! 🙂

I can sympathise with the migraines, Tom. I don’t get them as often as I used to, but they can be pretty darn bad at times, sometimes leaving me numb down my left side for a good while. Those visual indicators are hideous – I get similar ones to you – as they’re the foreshadowing and there’s nothing you can do about it. Indeed, the only thing I find that does help is sleep.

I hope you are feeling better now.

Thanks, Steven. Ouch. Numb down one side sounds awful… I’m grateful I only get the recurring twinkles. Sleeping’s good though… I don’t need a migraine to tell me that! Hehehe!
And yes, I’m feeling loads better now. Thanks.
