The Talent

Talent

With a backdrop of flashing lights and special effects
The talent reaches the end of her show
The crowd, all hyped up and hot from dancing
Now know it is time to go.

The encores all over, the lights finally go out
And the door takings show yet another good night.

It’s Illustration Friday time again. These Fridays are coming around fast, aren’t they? Actually, it’s Monday, but last Friday’s (and therefore this week’s) topic is Talent.

Slightly easier than Whisper or Wool, I suppose, but only just. I decided to go with a quick splurge of colour to create a cartoon with the star of the show reaching the end of her crowd pleasing number. You can tell it’s a cartoon by the out-sized hands and awful shoes. No real celebrity would allow themselves to be seen on stage dressed like that either. But cartoon celebrities… they have the amazing talent of being able to do absolutely anything. Even sing in front of a massive explosion.

This looks very Mardi Gras-ish to me, Tom. Because Mardi Gras is the day MTM proposed to me, it is a fine day in our household. 🙂 I love it.

Thanks, Andra… it does have a Mardi Gras feel to it… I may use that idea for a future cartoon, actually…

Thanks, Prenin. With this one, I just coloured. I drew the face in later, but just shaped a few colours together; it turned out quite well!

True enough, Sir Aquatom, cartoon characters put up with anything (an’ no back chat), that looks to have been quite a show. I wonder what it feels like afterwards… as the applause ends and you’re left with the buzz… Hope your Mondays a good one.. xPenx

Had a fine Monday, thank you Pen.
When I’ve been to concerts, in the Middle Ages, I always thought the after-effects to be a little … flat. However, I was never a performer, so their after-effects may be somewhat different!

Lovely cartoon. The singer looks like she is enjoying her moment in the spotlight. Happy Monday, Tom!

This is just a delightful splash of color, perfect for Monday morning viewing. You’re becoming more strident in your illustrations, Tom, and it’s wonderful to see.

The talent here evokes a combination of Janis Joplin, Dolly Parton, and Phyllis Diller. Wa-hoo!

I don’t know what look I was going for with the artiste, Gabriel, but I think your description sums her up nicely!
With this one, I just went for the colour, and didn’t have a clue what I was going to end up with until I’d finished. I’m happy with it though!

I love your illustration – not least because we have similar shapes and taste in pyjamas 🙂

    Fabulous drawing.
So, it must be true that the show isn’t over until the fat lady sings. Tee hee.

“No real celebrity would allow themselves to be seen on stage dressed like that either.” Think back to Janis Joplin, Tom, for your illustration actually brought her to my mind.

I didn’t have Janis in mind when I was spreading the colour about, LA… but Gabriel also mentioned her earlier! I must have sub-consciously picked up her vibe… or something!

I’m just grateful you didn’t go in a Celine Dion direction, Tom. I can’t stand her.

Ulp. Don’t go looking at my musical videos page then, LA (it’s the Feel Good option in the Features menu above…), Celine belts a classic out in there!

Nice energy and colors in this piece. “No real celebrity would allow themselves to be seen on stage dressed like that either.” Er…have you seen Justin Beiber lately? O_o lol

Hello Dragonkatet! And thank you… it is quite bold!
I must admit that I’m not too well up on Justin’s fashion sense at the moment; but I can say that he wasn’t the inspiration for this cartoon!

Love it! I didn’t participate in this weeks one either. For some reason my schedule has gone completely out of whack as I am whacked with confusion ….ah well.
I *did* have an idea though….to draw one of those awful weird looking stiletto shoes…I mean..that’s talent trying to even stand in those…but ah well.

I also like that you accompany your art work with a little poem 🙂
