Blood Snow

Just a quick post today, which is, basically, the weather forecast.

We like nothing more than a good old moan about the one thing we have no control of… and this post is nothing more than a good old moan! I’m feeling good already!

We’re experiencing some extremely odd weather and atmospheric conditions here in the UK at the moment. One day heavy rain, the next day brilliant sunshine and dry as a bone, the next day thick fog and frost in the mornings. Warm nights and clear skies gave us the ability to see the Northern Lights, not a common occurrence here in Blighty. And definitely not an occurrence at all here in Aqua Mansion; just like with the recent meteor showers, I saw nothing! The Moon looks good though, so can’t complain.

This week, things change. For a change.

Snow is forecast. SNOW! Already. To say it’s enough to make one’s blood boil is a little too extreme, to say the least, after all it’s only snow. But snow in October? That’ll be like sun in Summer only not as rare…

But that isn’t the only oddity forecast. We are also to expect Blood Rain.

Blood Rain. Sends shivers to your very core, doesn’t it? Even more shivery shivers than the shivers that can accompany the snow.

But it needn’t. Blood Rain isn’t that rare at all. It certainly isn’t odd.

Basically, it’s normal rain, but mixed in with the raindrops are sand particles from the deserts, which give the rain a reddish look. Once the rain dries, everywhere is coated with a thin red film. Everything is coated. Cars… houses… trees… everything.

With snow mixed in with the possibility of Blood Rain, I’m wondering if we have a chance of getting Blood Snow.

Now that would be weird weather… but very welcome with Halloween just around the corner.

    Yeah Tom.

I remember seeing this happen a few times and the cars were covered in a thin layer of fine sand.

Just shows how connected we are as a world! 🙂

    God Bless dude!

    Prenin.

I’ve seen that before as well, just not with snow, Prenin. I don’t know if we’ll see it this week either for that matter… my imagination ran away with me for this post!
But yes, we are most definitely more connected than we initially think!

The thing is VK, that the weather is so changeable over here, everyone would be a winner somehow and the betting company would be losing out financially in no time at all! Either that, or no-one would get it right and someone would complain about weather fixing! But Blood Snow for Halloween would be ‘cool’! 😀

So, instead of Brits referring to it as “bloody snow” . . . would it be “bloody blood snow”?

    Enquiring minds want to know.
    Or maybe just me. 😉

Some may refer to it that way… and others may be less polite!
I’m actually ‘warming’ to the idea now!

Snow is bad enough for October, rare here too this early…but I’d take the snow over that blood rain! ewww just would be way to eerie to see a red film covering everything, sounds dreadful Tom.
Hoping that you have much nicer weather this week instead xo

It’s just like a coating of dust when it settles, Nikki, but it is strange when it’s unexpected. At least this time we’re prepared. And hopefully, for the snow too. Usually we grind to a halt!

I’ve heard of the rain/ sand combo, but didn’t realise it was called Blood Rain- I love the drama of that 🙂 Bloody Blood snow would be v cool (as long as I’m warm and snuggly and safe inside or, oh, oh, oh, building a RED SNOWMAN.
    Actual excitement!

I never knew it was called Blood Rain until the other day, Fiona – it sounds eerily cool, though!
I feel your excitement about building a red snowman!

I don’t know if I should feel jealous or relieved about the weather in the UK…hehe. At least you can’t complain that the weather is boring 😉 Blood rain did send shivers down my back…more shivery than having a really realllllly cold blended ice drink on a rainy day..(we don’t have snow here 😦 )

Ah, sorry, Shree. We do complain about our weather, but it is changeable and definitely not boring…

Don’t feel badly, Tom – we got six inches of snow yesterday, with more predicted for today. But I’ve never heard of “blood rain” – that is deliciously shivery with Halloween coming on!

Six inches? Do you normally get snow in October, Diane, or is this odd weather for you?
I agree with the Blood Rain… what a thing to find out so close to Halloween!

I don’t think we actually have “normal” weather here in Calgary. 🙂 I’ve seen snow in every month of the year, including August. Six inches and -8 degrees in October is a little disheartening, but not unheard-of. Next week they’re predicting +10 and sunshine, so it’ll all melt – until the next time ’round.

Actually, Diane, I don’t think anywhere has normal weather anymore… your temperature swings sound very similar to ours, only on a grander scale! We get hailstone in August, not seen snow yet. Never say never!
