Reg the vampire, who lives on Bridge Lane,
Called me and asked me to visit again.
He had something to show me, something so good,
He asked me to get there as quick as I could.
I arrived at his bungalow in very quick time
All seemed quiet, everything looked fine,
Shawn, his cat, was asleep on the sill,
I rang his doorbell and felt a strange chill.
He opened the door with a friendly smile,
And apologised for keeping me for a while.
He invited me in passed the grandfather clock
That ticked two times before going tock
Along the hallway, he asked me to go
And out through the back, as if I should know,
That the garden was where he needed me
And that there was where my surprise would be.
He pointed to the shelter right at the back
He called it a shelter, it’s more of a shack,
He asked me to slowly open the door
And I started to wonder what he had in store.
Well, with him being a vampire, you have to think
Did he ask me there so that he could drink?
But as he’s a friend, I let that thought go
And what I saw next made my heart grow.
Inside the shelter, I noticed five pairs of eyes
All crystal clear and as blue as the skies.
Looking at me, were five little cats;
Two adults and three cute kittens in fact.
Reg’s other cat, who is called Shawn as well
Had found himself a mate, who Reg has named Belle
They now have three kittens, all lively and fine
And all five were sitting in a straight line
This Shawn had been missing for a day or so
As Reg always lets both cats come and go.
When Shawn returned, he strolled in proud as punch,
With his new family in tow, and all asking for lunch!
It is almost a year to the day when I last posted this little tale, but made the terrible mistake of spelling the name of Reg’s two cats incorrectly. Reg made me well aware of my error at the time, but I now feel it’s time to repost. However this time, I have ensured the spelling is correct.
