The Great Valentine’s Conspiracy

Warning: My Inner Romantic has had another go at writing a rhyme:

There’s nothing that says “I Love You” more
Than an expensive card being shoved through your door
The card makers are rubbing their hands in glee
Saying “Give this to your loved one, your money to me!”
The restaurants are in on the conspiracy too
Buy a meal for one, you’ll still pay for two:
”Get in by seven, get ten per cent off” they say
And charge by the sprout so there’s still more to pay.
Rose growers unite to set their prices high
They grow their roses to reach for the sky
And then they sell them, complete with full stem
And charge by the weight – or sell them in tens.
Chocolates are delicious, I’m sure you’ll agree
And at certain times of the year they are quite fancy
But most Valentine’s chocolates leave a familiar taste
Especially when devoured at extremely great haste!
Wines and champagnes are next on my list
Pay slightly more to still get quite p merry…
You can buy some plonk that is lower in price
But remember the headache pills – heed this advice!
Strawberries are yummy, succulent and fresh,
Diamonds glisten, and are oh so presh,
There are plenty of love songs – even I know a few,
Yet everything is upped by a penny or two.

When all said and done, it’s the spender’s money, not mine
And I’ll be staying in on my own, with that I’m fine
I’ll watch a DVD without a glass of wine (work the next day)
How will you spend your Valentine’s?

I will spend Valentines day relaxing and will wish my God daughter’s youngest child Bonnie happy birthday – not that she’s old enough yet to understand! 🙂

    God Bless my friend!

    Prenin.

We’re on half term, and Phil’s moving out bedroom round. Maybe, just maybe, I will have a new revamped bedroom in which to eat chocolates and be ceremonially appreciated.

I am going to New York City. We’re having dinner in the restaurant at the Seagram Building (architect’s pick), and I know we’re going to the MoMA and to see Cynthia Nixon in Wit. Lots of wandering other than those planned events.

Thank you once more, Nikki! 😀 😀
I’ve had to postpone the DVD (and I wasn’t having any wine due to work tomorrow, but I may just have a bottle now!) due to my internet connection ‘speed’ this evening. It’s taking hours to get comments replied to! (Not that I’m complaining about the commenting – I hasten to add – just the time it’s taking!)
