This evening, I was going to write about another of my recurring dreams. This particular dream doesn’t occur very often, and is usually incorporated within another dream – think of it like a scene in a movie or television show. The location maybe different in each dream, but the feelings, especially the déjà vu ones, are very strong indeed. I’ll save the main details for another post, but this dream involves me being on the deck of a ferry, or a boat, in very choppy waters. As I was thinking about writing about this, another thought suddenly occurred to me to write a general post about the general themes of the dreams I have. And I dream very regularly indeed.
I dream a lot about being in an open space. Either an open field, or flying high in the sky. I have written several posts on these in the past, but other dreams have included me being on a hillside being able to look all around for miles. An opposite type of dream is where I am inside somewhere, and have a need to get outside. I don’t know if these dreams are letting me know that I need to be more open, have a need to be outside, or feel trapped and need more freedom, but the dreams are never really bad. They usually have a good feel to them (apart from the one with the bull).
Another recurring dream I have is a house that I live in. This house is huge, with many rooms. Sometimes, rooms are hidden, and I discover them. Other times, rooms are at the end of a long corridor and seem ‘out of time’ to the rest of the house. One dream I had had a room that was really peaceful, full of old fashioned furniture and ornaments, and an old clock with a very loud, and very relaxing tick. The thoughts of the sound and of being in that cool room are actually making me feel relaxed now, it was that powerful. Other houses are on different levels, some are high on a hill with a driveway that spirals up to it for what seems like miles, and some have a lot of stairs in them. I believe rooms to indicate different thoughts or ideas (although I have no idea where this belief has come from) but I suppose they could also indicate a place of solitude and/or safety.
Yet another theme of dreams I have to say I enjoy, are the ship dreams. Like the ferry ones that I mentioned earlier, these are the dreams of galleons (the ones that set me off on my 1642 quest), but I suppose these will be linked with the ferry ones. Whether these indicate a journey, I don’t know, because there is always the water aspect too which could indicate fluidity… grace, smooth and flowing. I’ll have to look deeper into these dreams (dive into the depths, as it were!)
The final type of dream I want to mention is linked to travel. Time travel. Not that this type of dream is as recurring as the above, I have dreamt that I have travelled back into the past, and met people who I know when they were much younger. I even met myself as a young child once, and my Mum, who instantly recognised me. I was back in the house where we used to live, and even got to travel in a yellow Vauxhall Viva with brown leather seats. I can still smell that leather to this day! Whether these dreams are a way of me holding onto the past, again, I don’t know (although I have never been in a Viva in my life before)
Well, this post hasn’t answered any questions about my recurring dreams at all… however, it has created more of them! Sometimes, just randomly waffling about things tends to reveal more than deliberately writing something and breaking it down. I’ll re-visit this post in a few month’s time, by which time I’ll either have some answers to the questions I have created, or be just as confused as always.
Quite possibly by then, I may have had a Lucid Dream, and the answers that I am looking for will have been revealed to me anyway… but I’ll have to wait and see about that experience. And if not, I may find the answers to my questions within the other posts that I add to my blog. Only time will tell…
