On a Silken Path

A thread of light, a beam, I see,
Colours dancing ahead of me

I pan back for into view
The reason quickly emerges through

Beams go hither, up and down
Reflecting dew from the dampened ground

Apparent it is, straight rainbow itโ€™s not,
For there are threads of silk, and quite a lot!

Tangled, woven, broken, reflecting light
Something was busy overnight

But now the new day has appeared
Can I hear scuttling getting near?

***
I took a few photos early yesterday of these strange pod things that suddenly appeared โ€“ they were quite high and were most definitely not there the day before. It was only when I was checking the photographs afterwards that I noticed the broken cobweb, and all of the silken threads. And then I noticed the prism reflecting off one of the silks. I decided to write a rhyme from the perspective of a little critter, checking things out.

Thanks, VK. I’m in two minds as to whether the spider is actually there in the image – towards the top in the last two pictures… not entirely sure.

Taking photos is so much better than walking into one.

Thanks, Diane – although it was rather early to be getting into such positions for a photograph! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hello Tom.
    Happy Wednesday!
Fabulous poem – you talented chap.
Wonderful photos! I cannot seem to capture the beauty of a cobweb so these photos of yours are enviable. My absolute favourite cobwebs are the ones which are covered in early morning dew. Ohhhh, SO, so pretty.

    GREAT post Mr.Tom.
Wishing you a blessed day ~ Cobs. x

The cobwebs were a bonus, Cobs, not that I’m complaining! I would love to get a photo of a full round web – that would be amazing.
      And thank you.

    Webs are amazing. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a lot of spiders living in my home, from garden varieties to wolf spiders, but I don’t bother them and they feed off anything they can catch! ๐Ÿ™‚

    God Bless!

They do keep themselves to themselves most of the time, Prenin, and are fascinating to watch when they are spinning or repairing their webs.

I like the colorful reflections coming about with the lighting, Tom.
Spiderwebs seem to have a glistening to them. I wonder if that creates the colors.
Pods from no where …. HUH??? One needs to be cautious about pods. I believe they coukd have been left behind from outer space beings.
Do take a pix if they open. Curious ….

I would love to oblige, Isadora… only the very next day the pods had all vanished. Each and every one of them.
(The gardeners arrived and did their thing…!) Alien or not, we will now never know! Eek!
