There’s a storm-a-brewin’ out in the Grinds. Heavy, yellow skies, lengthened rumbles of distant thunder, and flashes of sheet lightning kind of give the game away. The shadows seem darker. The air heavier. The rain just a bit wetter. And the wind is almost blowing a gale! The power’s out in the Mansion. I’m typing on emergency back up power, provided by the antiquated generators in the generator room down in the Cellar. Whenever the generators kick in, the lights ite in the Grinds also seem brighter… or maybe that’s just because they stand out against the darkness.
Apparently, it was meant to be hot today. Hot again. It looked this morning as though that were to be the case, and then, at lunchtime, it all changed.
It’s weird in the powerless Mansion.
Spooky.
Echoic.
Chilling.
Nights like this are more suited for Halloween. Luckily, that isn’t too far away now… although I hope this storm doesn’t last until then!
