There’s  a storm-a-brewin’ out in the Grinds. Heavy, yellow skies, lengthened rumbles of distant thunder, and flashes of sheet lightning kind of give the game away. The shadows seem darker. The air heavier. The rain just a bit wetter. And the wind is almost blowing a gale! The power’s out in the Mansion. I’m typing on emergency back up power, provided by the antiquated generators in the generator room down in the Cellar. Whenever the generators kick in, the lights ite in the Grinds also seem brighter… or maybe that’s just because they stand out against the darkness.

Apparently, it was meant to be hot today. Hot again. It looked this morning as though that were to be the case, and then, at lunchtime, it all changed.

It’s weird in the powerless Mansion.

Spooky.

Echoic.

Chilling.

Nights like this are more suited for Halloween. Luckily, that isn’t too far away now… although I hope this storm doesn’t last until then!

  1. Would love a good storm right now to cool everything down, I love the sunshine but the muggy nights that accompany the days are hard going.

    1. Yes, this storm’s trying to freshen things up, MrsCraft, only it’s not quite reaching the level needed just yet… it’s rumbling along. Not as muggy, I must add, but if it gets hot again that will change, I’m sure.

  2. That seems to be setting the scene for something really Gothic. Enter … what? Ooooh, the terror of it!
We’ve had a storm grumbling away at itself all day. Maybe the guy up there has bad indigestion.

    1. What indeed, Col? Hmmm, I wonder…
We thought earlier that some heavy furniture was being dragged around up there – then moved back – then moved again… sounds like it’s in the right place for n – nope, it’s moving again! 😀

      1. I wonder if your lot is moving out and ours moving in, or vice versa?

        1. Quite possibly… although they could just be redecorating. You know how large the rooms are up there…

  3. Oh dear, that doesn’t sound good. Today we had the promised hot weather, but no humidity so it was lovely. Yesterday the promised good stuff did not appear, but at least we didn’t have a storm.

  5. We had a Major storm here that lasted over two hours followed by two hours of heavy rain!

The local kids were too stupid to go home and buzzed all the intercoms trying to get into the block.

One of my asshole neighbours let them in and, sure enough, the teenagers followed to smoke drugs and mess up the block, not leaving until after 10pm when I dozed off.

This time I haven’t cleaned up after them – I’ll let my neighbours do that for a change… 😦

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

    1. I don’t blame you, Prenin. The kids around your way do seem to be somewhat of a problem Prenin… they’ll also never learn if they keep getting their own way.

  6. I’m sure you are well into planning for Halloween TL…Throw a big fire into the fireplace and pull a chair up close and comfy and just sit and listen to the storm. I’m finding we all need to do more through our feelings(our hearts) than through our heads. It makes all the difference in the world. Stay dry…..VK 🙂

    1. Thanks, VK. Things seem to be leveling out now. Cooler outside, but warm air trapped within. Soon, all will balance!
      Enjoy tonight’s Eclipse!

  7. We had a thunderous rainy day today. I decided it was time for a nice jacuzzi bath with aroma oils and soft music until I was drifting off and, then, went to bed. Thank you thunderous rain for a lazy day. ⛈
Yes, this is a lot better color. Softer on the eyes while complimenting the images.
Sending relaxing waves your way …
