A Green Lantern

#WorldWatercolorMonth Day Ten

“…In brightest day, in blackest night…” begins an oath of a particular superhero whose name defies me right now. Saturday was a black, dark day, due to cloud cover, so the oath doesn’t really cover days like that – although the day inspired me to provide some kind of light. I switched on my daylight bulb which diminished the darkness and allowed me to see the paper that I was about to paint on. And, inspired by the darkness I painted a green lantern, as you do.

I’m becoming a messy painter. I’m sploshing colour here, there and everywhere, although I really don’t mean to. I’m right-handed, and here’s a photo of my left hand covered in paint. I have no idea how that happened. You’d think watercolour would be easy to wash off, but it isn’t! I’ve only just got rid of the mark now.

I was planning on surrounding the lantern with black, but opted for the purple instead, and I was then toying with the idea of gradually making the surround darker the further out it went from the centre, and then decided to leave it white. I’m nothing if not decisive. I think.
