It’s Jest Not Funny!

I’ve never been over keen on clowns. And I’ve certainly never been over keen on those sad clowns, frightening things that they are. I’ve never really minded jesters though, for some strange reason. Probably because I was one once, but we’ll keep quiet about that for now.

Anyway, as it’s Monday, I’ve just sploshed some colour around and created this quick joodle… a jester doodle. Even one with a glare such as this doesn’t terrify me as much as a clown… goes away to shudder. Shilently. To silently shudder.

I did say it wasn’t funny.

Well, Sir Aquatom, he’s much skinnier than a clown… So less threatening, methinks, and having been one yerself, well, you’d know if there was another side to him, unlike clowns tho’ you just know deep down some things ‘not right’ ( or was it left?) …. Great drawing tho… Jest great.. 🙂 xPenx

Thanks, Lady P. This picture has been tweaked to within an inch of its life, but the one thing that didn’t alter was the skinniness. I think jesters should be skinny… remember Timothy Claypole from Rentaghost…? He was skinny, if my memory serves me right…

I only had to read the title and I was laughing, rather ashamedly, but laughing nonetheless. I’m not sure if it says more about my sense of humour, or my sanity (or indeed my fatigue, given the time). I’m not going to complain about laughing, though – great stuff, Tom.

I love the artwork! Very characterful, and rather bright 😛 I’ve always found the jester’s hat kinda scary, but find clowns much creepier on the whole. Clowns make me uncomfortable, and they always pick on me. Always.

Hi Steven… I’d put it down to the time, I think, but I’m still glad that you had a laugh!
I wouldn’t actually refer to this piece as ‘artwork’ though, ’tis merely colours splodged together in the shortest amount of time possible, but thanks anyway! I much prefer jesters to clowns, but, as far as I can remember, I’ve never been picked on by a clown. I never gave them chance to… I always hid.

I was never very keen on clowns, either, Tom. When the circus came to town when I was a kid, we never went. But court jesters were okay with me. I particularly liked it when Woody Allen played one in his adaptation of “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex”. It was a stupid comedy, but I found it very entertaining back in the day. I remember that Woody’s jester carries a mock sceptre decorated with his own face. It wore glasses.

I don’t think I’ve seen that movie, LA, but for some reason I remember the sceptre… unless somebody else ‘borrowed’ the idea.

Yeah I have a movie on DVD: ‘Killer Klownze From Outer Space’ which says it all about clowns! 🙂

It’s scary in places, but VERY funny in others – a real ‘B Movie’ Classic!!! 🙂

    Love the Jester though! 🙂

    God Bless!

I don’t think I’ve heard of that move, Prenin… but it does have a hint of B Movieness to it….
      Thanks for liking the scribblings!
