One Minute Ramble: First Snow

The first snow ofth’winter fell this morn
It ne’er settled and soon was gorn.
The clouds gathered up in’th sky
Then cleared, and revelth’sun up high.
The sun though wasn’t warm.
Hence the snow that fell this morn.

Forecast has it that today is the first day of a hundred days of bitterly cold weather. The forecast has been wrong before, so there’s a chance it’s wrong this time too. I mean to say, if the forecast changes on a daily basis, as it does nowadays, how on Earth can anyone be sure of the next one hundred days?

I’m still taking my break due to a shortage of inspiration right now, but a sudden burst of weather-inspired… erm… inspiration… forced me to write this post. Apologies for that!

I shall be back commenting soon. And writing shortly afterwards! Sometimes though, you just gotta!

Oh, and keep your eyes peeled for signs of Comet Ison… should be in the skies any time now. And look out for any Solar-inspired random activities as the Sun’s eleven-year polar-flip occurs… currently, the Sun has two south poles and no north. With that configuration, things are bound to be a little different than usual!

We had a generous snow dump and angry wind last Monday. All gone the next morning but the night before visibility and driving were not good.
You’re right. The weatherman can’t predict how changeable the weather will decide to be. 🙂

      They’re OKish short-term, Tess. Sometimes.
Apparently, we’re in for more cold soon. But once again, they may be wrong…

Weathermen must feel something like dentists. Everyone wants to know the forecast / fix the pain but everybody hates them both. Hmm.

I got so used to my dentist, I didn’t mind going, Tess. I think that’s what has weakened my teeth so! Sigh…

Watch that you need what you are told. Dentist, Doctor, car mechanic need to have someone in control. YOU! Heh. heh.

    Hi Tom! 🙂

    Good poem my friend! 🙂

Yeah the weather is getting set for an icy blast!

It’s hovering around 2’C at the moment here with worse on its way, so I’m staying home! 🙂

I don’t know about a hundred days though – I’m a bit of a sceptic when it comes to long range forecasts!!! 🙂

I mentioned the flip myself – lets hope nothing heads our way as CME’s and flares will be active until the sun stabilises! 🙂

Have a great week my friend and God Bless! 🙂

    Prenin.

      And look! I’m replying!
Apologies for being so late, but better late than never, I suppose!
It has gone a little warmer of late, but I’ve heard on the grapevine the cold is on its way back. Sigh.
At least it’s nearly Spring! Hehehe!

I’ve not heard any more about the flip lately. I can feel an investigation coming on…

Love your poem – the first snow is always exciting! It’s lost its novelty here – we’re sitting at -20C with close to six inches of the stuff, but that’s okay. It’s a good excuse to sit indoors in my comfy chair. 🙂

I do like a deep snow filled evening, Diane – everywhere seems more magical somehow!
But as you say, it does tend to wear thin very fast!
Sorry for being so late in replying, but today is the first chance I’ve been able to for what seems like months!
      Now I’m being over-dramatic!

But I’m clawing myself back! Back, I tell you!
Ahem. Need to calm down the dramatics, I think!
Sorry it’s taken me so long to reply.

No real snow here yet…Just flurries blowing about in the cold air. When the first good dump of snow arrives it is always nice to be inside where it is warm looking out. Very Cozy! Enjoy the first taste of winter TL…It’s only just begun!!! VK

      Hi VK!
Yes, it’s always nice with the first snow fall. Not as nice after ten or twenty, but hey! We’ve only had that one day so far, so can’t really complain weather-wise.
And, I can finally reply! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We’ve had no snow since, Tilly. In fact, it’s warmed up as well lately… but it’s getting cold again now.
I’m just happy I can reply again!

Morn rhyming with gorn – excellent! 🙂
It was bitterly cold here first thing this morning, with ice on the car windows, but that has changed to pouring rain.

I tried to write that in a Northern accent. I’m not very good at writing in accents, which isn’t really very good, considering I’m Northern as well!
Ah well. At least I can finally reply to these fine comments I’ve received. I started to feel awfully rude!

Hi Tom I am sure your rambles will soon be longer once you settle into the cosy nights with the wind howling and the snow blowing upon your window as you snuggle up with your PC to tell those delicious stories of your creaking Mansion.. 🙂
The Wind is bitter, but we just had rain… I made some home made soup to keep me warm.. 🙂
Take care and we are here waiting when you unleash your humour upon us again…
Lots of warm thoughts your way

My rambles are getting a little longer, Sue… and a bit more rambly as well. Is rambly a word? It should be!
I must write more about the Mansion – I agree. There are still places even I haven’t ventured into yet!
Warm thoughts right back at you as well, Sue! Have a good evening.

Loved that little poem! Hope you’re having a wonderful break 🙂
You must come back and conduct a class (through a post of course) about the Comet Ipson and the fact that the sun actually has poles and that it has two south poles now…okay??
    Thank you!!

Thanks, Shree. I’ve had a bit longer of a break than I intended, but never mind.
      Glitches aside it was good.
Apparently, the comet fizzled out as it went by the Sun, unfortunately, although there are some reports that part of it is still continuing its journey. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. As for the Solar Flip – I’ve not heard any more myself… but I will investigate further! I’ll get back to you!

I’ve had a little break, and then was affected by a major glitch.
Things seem better now, but I’m not counting any chickens just yet.
I shall start visiting very soon… once I’m sure everything is working fine.
Sorry for this late reply; and I hope you are well!

We’ve had a couple days of dustings in November. There’s a bit in the air that I’m not used to yet!

The new look through me for a loop, then again, family issues and more are keeping my plate full. Hope all is well with you … It’s Thanksgiving for us in the USA, so here’s some music for you on this day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYi9Vr8bHJY

I’ve had a bit of a glitchy time of late, but I keep trying!
We’re getting a little cooler again around these parts now. It did ‘warm up’ for a short while. Still cold, you understand!

It’s the time of year when temperature like to fluctuate for us, too. A cold snap is due to return by week’s end.
