Crypt Out!

This post was actually going to be entitled ‘Creeped Out’ but spellchecker doesn’t like the word Creeped. In a flash of inspiration, Crypt Out filled the void!

Shadows followed me wherever I looked,
The wind howled through the trees outside.
Footsteps followed me as I walked,
Yet when I stopped, they stopped.

Strange noises echoed into the night,
One here, one there, one here again.
I felt a breath upon my neck
No – it was a touch – a hand!

I turned quickly, yet no-one was there.
Another noise caused me to turn again,
A black cat ran by ahead, eyes glowing
Screaming, chasing or being chased?

Tapping ahead – or behind – hard to tell
Not tapping – beating
A heartbeat
My heartbeat

Pounding

Pounding

Pounding

A noise

I hold my breath

A scream

I run

Into a wall…!

Lost

I’m lost.

But I can hear the outside.
I can hear the safety and the freedom.
Just have to keep moving forward,
And not allow the fear to consume me.

The darkest hour is always just before dawn.

Yes they say its always darkest before the dawn light Tom… This brought back a memory of story my Mother told me long ago.. As she walked home along a dark lonely lane.. She thought she was being followed, but dare not look around,… She heard the steps of someone behind her.. She hastened her steps and the person behind her hastened theirs..She started to really walk faster and the steps matched hers going just as fast.. Her heart she said was beating so fast at this stage she dare not look around, but She started to run and the steps behind her also started to run, she ran full pelt and the beads around her neck hit her chin…
It was at this point she realised it was the beads around her neck which had been pounding upon the buttons of her cardigan… She slowed down and looked around.. No one… she laughed… as she had ran from her necklace.. 🙂

Hahaha…I loved that story!! Sometimes that is the way it is, isn’t it? We run in fear from ourselves 🙂

Tom, on this side of the pond the darkest hour is always right before I turn on the bathroom light first thing in the morning. Just sayin’ …

I really thought the story would end up something like what Sue’s story went….BUT it was great! I feel so happy for whomever is in that story that soon he will be free!…well..unless he meets a hungry banshee or two just before reaching the gates 😉

No, Shree, this one’s ending is a good one – he gets free!
