View from the window: Meteorite in the garden

In a recent post, I described how I had been trapped in the bathroom after a meteorite had landed on the roof of the Mansion. It was quite a large meteorite, it must be said, and there were many smaller ones strewn across the Grinds. The image above shows one just outside the window, which, due to the fact they are made from some ultra-toughened glass didn’t break during the meteor shower, luckily. There are thousands of windows in this Mansion.

I’m not really one for gardening, but I think the meteorites add a certain something to the garden, a kind of extra-terrestrial rockery. They’ll look better as soon as they stop smouldering, I suppose.

Last night, I woke up needing to nip to the bathroom, as you do. I noticed a strange, reddish glow that seemed to be following me as I made the trek from the bedroom to the bathroom. It was an eerie glow, and I have nothing that would give off a red light.

When I arrived at the bathroom, and looked in the mirror, I could see the source of the glow. My eyes.

The meteorites have caused my eyes to glow in the dark.

I’m hoping that it’s only temporary.

🙂 now I hope you will not be turning Green as well dear Tom. But Red and Green do go nicely! I will be back tomorrow to catch up on your meteorite experience.
As I’m on abreak as your post landed in my email phone-box. So while your eyes may be glowing Red mine are squinting trying to see what I’m typing via Blackberry! 🙂 Enjoy!

I’ve not noticed any green yet, Sue! 🙂
      I can’t use a blackberry – too fat fingered!

If your eyes are glowing in the dark, all the better to see you. Or perhaps you will see better. Maybe both. Maybe you’re right, Tom. Maybe we are going through an asteroid field. One of my very good friends feels the same. I’m just hoping that luck holds and the meteorites don’t hit a populated area and hit the ocean on some unpopulated land mass. The one in Russia came too close for comfort. 1,000 people injure! Luckily you weren’t harmed in the Mansion.

It makes you think about the vastness of space when things like this happen – and we’re travelling through it!
The casualties from the Russian meteorite is staggering, Maire, and now they’ve got the clean-up to contend with as well. Nightmare!

It’s amazing that it came so close to a population center and caused so much damage without even hitting it. We are really so vulnerable.

We do live with a certain amount of luck on our side, Maire, so that’s one good thing… and the world has more sea than land, so that’s another… but yes, we are still vulnerable as well!

Ah, Shadowcat… yes! He has yellow eyes, and mine are red. I wonder if we looked at the same thing, would there be an orange glow?
You’ve got me thinking now, Shree!

Could it have been caused by looking at them? Very interesting.

I remember a couple of years ago there was a fire in an old chimney stack that was being used as a mechanics garage. Goodness knows what was in there, Andra, as thick smoke covered the area for at least an hour. Me being the nosy sort, I went out to investigate, in the smoke, but then went back home after discovering where the fire was. I woke up the next morning, and my eyes (the whites) were pure red. Not glowing then, but shockingly red. I went back to bed, slept a while longer, and then checked my eyes again and they were back to normal.

Tpm, I see benefit in glowing eyes. When you need to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night you don’t need to turn on the light. I could go for that.

There is that, LA, it’s a bit like looking through night-vision cameras, only all that can be seen are shadows and a red glow…

Quite possibly Prenin… although I don’t think I want any more super powers! I’m perfectly happy with the ones I’ve got already!
The glow’s actually worn off now… so I’m back to being normal again…

You know what they say about making lemonade when all you’re handed is lemons. At least you don’t need a nightlight for trapsing to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I wonder if VISINE has a type of eyedrops to correct your problem. Tee hee.

The meteorites have made your eyes glow in the dark…hmm….very strange…hmm…lol…maybe it’s the pound signs you can see flashing in them as you consider how many pennies could be involved in selling off lumps of meteorite to the highest bidder…or maybe it’s the shape of things to come! I’m sure I saw a glow coming out of the bathroom in your mansion…and it wasn’t your eyes!!

Isn’t it a reality that eyes glowing in the dark is a sign of passion?

Quite possibly, Susan, but unfortunately not in my case. Maybe that’s why my glow didn’t last very long…! 😉
