POPS
and
BANGS
and
FIZZLES
and
CRACKLES
Are all well and good but they do raise my hackles
One moment I’m sitting
Relaxed, in deep thought
And in the next instant
My nerves are all fraught
An explosion outside
Jolts me with a fright
It’s always the same
Around Bonfire Night!
Fireworks

I am totally in like with that picture!!!!! Yes, fireworks can be unnerving especially those “Chinese crackers”! Poor Jack the dog is always beside himself with fear, shivering away when it’s fireworks time..about 6 times a year!

Thanks, Shree… yes, I feel for the animals who haven’t a clue what all the banging is about! You have fireworks six times a year? Bonfire night and New Year are our usual mega firework blasts, although they do sometimes go off at other times of the year as well…
The picture, by the way, has been ‘borrowed’ from the Power Point Clip Art Gallery!LikeLike

Yup, 6 times per year (or there about)..let’s see:
1. New Years Eve
2. Chinese New Year
3. Independence Day (there’s usually a concert held at the city center and the fireworks can be seen by those living around the city…with the noise too)
4. Eid Festival
5. Diwali (Hindu Festival of Lights)
AH..5 then…unless someone decides to let off a few during Christmas (which is quite rare)… 😀LikeLike

That’s still a lot of times… but thinking about it now, we have firework displays when TV shows come to an end. They’re more common than you think! Soon, days without firework displays will be all the rage! 😀

When TV shows come to an end?? O.O
Ooo now that’s something new!
I hope not Tom! Fireworks are lovely to see..but it’s one of those “good things in small doses” types..heheLikeLike

I agree Shree!
And I mean the whole series coming to an end… not just an episode! That would be WAY over the top! 😉 😀LikeLike

I love fireworks . . . but not when they are unexpected. *BOOM*
That picture is FAB!LikeLike

Nancy, I don’t think any firework will startle me any more, I’m starting not to notice them now. Wah! I noticed that one! Eek! 😯
The picture is a good one, isn’t it? It’s from Power Point!LikeLike

Hi Tom! I know you don’t “do” awards, BUT I have “nominated” your blog for the Reality Blog Award as well just because it will give people an opportunity to visit your space 🙂 The post will be out on the 6th of November 2012, 12 pm Malaysian time.

Hi Tom! 🙂
Good news!
So far this time, nobody has tossed a firework into the building! 🙂
Andrew the alcoholic visited me last night and told me that my neighbour’s window was broken by the flat tenant to get in because he’d lost his keys.
What that REALLY means is that three lads tried to break in, but Andy and his dad didn’t want to call the Police in case they were targeted by the thieves… 😦
Love the poem! 🙂
God Bless!
Prenin.

That is good news that no-one has launched a firework into your building 😯 !
I don’t know what’s worse… attempted break ins or incoming fireworks… both frightening!
Glad you like the rhyme, Prenin!LikeLike

Yes, the animals don’t have a clue, do they? And the bangs will be so much louder for them as well!
Pleased you like the pic, Susan – it’s a Clip Art from Power Point special! 😉LikeLike

I am so glad we only have a few short hours one day a year here to endure the craziness and explosions! Hopefully in the new world we will finally respect the animals enough to consider what we are doing to them! I can’t wait for the new world to arrive! Love the picture! Thanks T…VK

Great little poem Tom, and yes same here, wish it would be just for one night only, but its been going on since before Halloween and no doubt will keep going now until the New Year… Amazing how many are being sold.. My daughter in law said her Well known Supermarket sells some £85 each for a 15 second Firework.. Now thats what I call burning your money up in smoke..
Best wishes.. SueLikeLike

I agree, Sue, we do have money to burn!
This dip in the economy is all out of proportion (that doesn’t make sense, but I couldn’t think of another way to word it!) Hey ho!
Yes, we’ll have a few firework-free nights for a few weeks now, then they’ll be back. With a vengeance!LikeLike
