In the field.
All day long.
No one near.
Waiting.
Watching.
Hanging around.
I’m meant to be fearsome. Frightening.
Instead I have to wear a bright green striped shirt that is two sizes too large for me.
Oh, they’ve stuffed it.
With tickly, itchy straw.
They’ve tied a thick piece of string around my waist to hold my trousers up so tightly it’s hard to breathe. If I could breathe, that is.
I’m tied to this post, arms outstretched… welcoming.
I’m not frightening at all. I’m a joke.
A perch for the very crows I’m meant to be keeping away.

is this one of your own drawings Tom? 🙂
If it is you are definitely a wicked artist but
even if you haven’t drawn it, I still like your
posting, it is jovial and a worthy offering at
Halloween 🙂 Have fun now Tom 🙂Androgoth

Thanks, Andro.
It is one of my drawings, this… I wanted something to match my words, but with a more ‘cartoony’ feel to it!
And yes, it is part of my Halloween season 😉
Hope you’ve had a good Tuesday Andro!LikeLike

I’ve always felt sorry for those lonely scarecrows.

Hi Tom, I really enjoy your halloween poems. Theres a movie called pumpkinhead, I havent seen it yet but I’ve heard its quite good and spooky,. Your pumpkinhead is perhaps a little too cute to spook 😉 Big hugs, Nikki x

Hi Nikki, when I wrote it, I first thought there was something called Pumpkinhead, but then changed my mind when I told myself it was Pinhead! Ah well… like you say, my Pumpkinhead isn’t scary in the slightest. He can’t even frighten the birds away!

I have the same kind of fear of clowns, Soma. I’m not too bad with scarecrows I must say!
