This Second

A second of silence
Is a moment of bliss.
A moment of clear thought.
A free mind, a connection with everything.
A second of silence is just what it is.
Add more seconds, more moments, more stillness.
See the world differently, feel the magic... which all starts with a second of silence.

A second poetic piece for the SSC&B Poetry Slamdown, based on the power of a second. (In six sentences, of course!)

I need a second to think that over.

My thoughts are deep so it takes a few extra seconds.

A second of silence can be hard to come by here.

All the more reason to find one then, Mimi! 😃

I like how the end of the poem wrapped around to the beginning. I also liked the unexpected rhymes on “bliss” and “it is”.

Thanks, Frank. I like using near rhymes as well as proper rhymes. And I wanted to bring the moment back to the second, so pleased you like that! 🙂

No truer words. You are on the money – it can all start “with a second of silence.”
    Beautifully penned, Tom.

Yep, everyone needs to find a way to stop and listen to silence for even a little but each day. It’s amazing what you can hear.
