Imagine an eye of a peacock. Mix in a swirl of tangerine. Blend with shadows’ essence and the redness of the setting sun. Wait a second for the blue to turn green. Close your eyes, clear your mind. Then ask, “Is this not the most abstract thing I’ve ever seen?”
It’s Poetry Slam time at the Six Sentence CafΓ© & Bistro. Denise, at Girlie on the Edge, has set the prompt word to be second.
So, I waited for a second, then I went away and doodled a colourful abstract. Then I came back for a second attempt at writing my first poetic entry, decided to include the doodle, and wrote six sentences to try to conjure up a colourful, poetic spell. All that happened was that I was distracted by abstraction. Which, in itself, wasn’t a bad thing, as it gave me my title. I’ll be posting less abstract pieces of poetry throughout the week. They’ll possibly make a little more sense.
Visit Deniseβs blog for more details on Six Sentence Stories, the linkβs above. And write yourself into the SSC&B, and share a poem for the slam, if you’d like… we’re all characters in Blogland if you stop and think about it.
