This Ol’ Bus

Todayโ€™s Official Prompt over on Doodlewash for #WorldWatercolorMonth for Friday is โ€˜Friday Night Memoriesโ€™. And that got me thinking. And that got me remembering. And that made me remember a bus that I painted when I was in primary school for what was known then as the Eisteddford. The real Eisteddford is a Welsh music, song and arts competition; but the name has been used for other arts-associated competitions throughout the world. The competition I entered back in those sepia days before black and white was invented, was a cross-school competition where we all entered paintings.

I painted a fabulous red and white double-decker bus. I remember it well. I had a thing for buses. And I remember my painting of the bus hanging there, on the wall, in the competition, in one of the runner-up positions. Obviously, that meant I hadnโ€™t won, but I was little. My painting was on the wall with other winning paintings. So I had, in my mind, won. I remember that feeling very well.

The bus Iโ€™ve painted today is a different one from that Eisteddford entry all those millennia ago. This oneโ€™s a single-decker for starters. Itโ€™s also a lot older than the bus I painted back then, so that makes this new painting one of a really old bus indeed. I tried to make it look old, but presented as new. It was fun to do. I may still revisit the double-decker I did, but for now that will have to wait for another time.

That’s a very good point, Beverly. I didn’t paint in the destination sign, did I? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sorry about your reader glitch. My time glitch has meant I’ve replied to about four thousand comments today… but things will be back to normal. I just know it!
