Expect the unexpected
They said
Them
From the Village of the Damned
Strangers from a tribe
Living on the outer edges of reason
Spitting venom after swallowing pride
Throwing stones in glass houses
Yet riding on the crest of a wave
Save
They still quake and quiver
They think they own the world
But dwell in holes beneath it
Unexpected?
Not quite

  1. The wry humor and irony of this poem made it worth multiple reads. I always enjoy a poem that requires me to circle back to the title after the last line. Great job!

  4. This sounds like modern day politicians. Whatever we see or experience now there always seems to be a precedent for it…particularly in politics.

  5. OOooo, I really like this one. It has depth and and layers, and… it can mean almost anything to anyone. For it’s how you read and interpret it. In many years to come I’d like to think that some mega intelligent person, with a brain the size of a planet, would look at your poem and confidently tell anyone who’ll listen, exactly what you were saying here.
😉 However … the only person who will really know is Mr.Tom himself.
