Out in the Grinds earlier this month, something moving caught my eye on the Little Island out on the Lake. No, it wasn’t the goose, but this chap:
Maybe it is my tired eyes playing tricks on me, but is there something lurking at the water’s edge just beneath the turtle? It isn’t visible in the above image, but it is in the header image. Here’s a larger section:
There’s all sorts out in the Grinds. Some obvious, some not so.
That guy looks a bit like our Snapping Turtles…Powerful jaws to stay away from. Then again maybe it is a gentle one out for a sunbath…Good eyesight TL…..VK

Thanks, VK. There are a few ‘little’ terrapins out in the Lake, gentle creatures they are – I haven’t seen any for a while until this one caught my attention.

I was looking for a gator, but a turtle will suffice. 😃

I don’t think we have them over here, Sylvia, although there could be anything in the Lake!

I think not being confined to a tank allows them to grow like that, Prenin. They should be free anyway, I think, although they are entertaining to watch as they bask.
And yes, I thought the other creature was a snake, but then thought that it couldn’t be. Could it???

Thanks, Diane, although I wouldn’t have spotted it had it not moved its head!
