Halloween Table Picnic

I’m a sucker.

Ahem.

I’m a sucker for anything to do with Halloween. I seem to be fuelled by my Inner Monster (who’s probably my Inner Zombie in disguise) and instantly spot something Halloweeny.

Take the other day, for instance. I was meandering around my local Sainsbury’s (other supermarkets are available) and I felt a push – nay! a pull… a calling… an urge… a nagging feeling… well, you get the drift… to walk to a particular aisle.

The cake aisle, for reasons that defy logic.

Ahem.

Anyway, there I was, in the cake aisle looking for something to catch my eye. And it did. THEY did.

Halloween Fancies and Lemon and Slime Jaffa Cakes caught my eye first, swiftly followed by some Chocolate and Slime somethings or other and then some Spooky Cinder Toffee cake bars.

I was spoilt for choice, so bought the lot. Well, one packet of each… I’m not greedy!

Just feast your eyes on this little lot:

Oh, I also discovered a packet of Body Bits as well, which immediately went into the mix!

They didn’t remain wrapped for long. My Inner Zombie made sure I made sure of that!

Then, I had the idea to take a moody shot of the bounty, so turned the light off:

I’ve now got the daunting task of turning the light on again, and deciding which one to have a go at first.

I’m a sucker for all things Halloweeny. I’m just not that good at making decisions.

Yum, yum I spotted the cakes in my local Sainsbury’s (other supermarkets probably sell them too 🙂 ) but managed to resist – although not for long, I suspect. My favourites, based on last year’s extensive research, are the Fiendish Fancies and the blackcurrant mini rolls.

I know! We’ve just finished a box of them, and I’ll be buying some more. 🙂

I didn’t eat them all at once as planned, Sue, so I’m fine… I still have some left actually!
I know what you mean… mind you, everyone seems to cash in on everything nowadays!

So many goodies but there’s no rush, right Tom? You can pace yourself over the next three weeks and then some. 😀 😀 😀

That’s exactly what I’ve done, Tess… mind you, I’ve been rushing around with everything else so there’s not been much time for cakes…!

Haha….love it! When I moved to the States when my little boy was 3 I was to experience my first ever American Halloween having grown up in England and so not experienced Halloween as such (unless you can count leaping around to a book tape to the music of Gobolino, the Witch’s Cat) and we had so much fun trick or treating and I (sorry, I meant the kids) loved all the candy and sweets. Now, back home, we still carve our pumpkins, dress up and enjoy finding delicious spooky treats such as these. I can see we are going to have a lot of fun this month Tom 😛

I hope so, Sherri. I go a little overboard with Halloween on the blog but it’s all meant to be fun.
I like the look of American Halloween from what I’ve seen on TV and in movies, but I haven’t experienced it myself in person. Here in Blighty, we seem a little too ‘reserved’ for Halloween. Not me though, I hasten to add…

Now if they would just make these treats non toxic and healthy all would be well. What a sugar blast these will give your system. Take care TL…No getting out of control…..VK

No chance of getting out of control, VK. Well, there was a slight one, but I still have some left… savour rather than rush, I say! 🙂

HAHAHA. We just had a conversation last night with Alan and Margaret, our English Rotarian guests, about classic Hallowe’en candy. I wish I’d read this post beforehand.

Funnily enough, I don’t at Christmas-time, Sara. I mean I alter the blog then as well, but I don’t think I get as involved as Halloween…
