Caught in two times

image

Still having problems accessing WordPress, although I suppose I still would be considering I’ve written this post half an hour after the previous one. (I’ve scheduled this to be posted sometime in the future – I like messing with the boundaries of time every now and again!)

I’ve been experimenting with different browsers, trying to find alternative ways to access the sites without receiving errors similar to the screenshot above. Some work for one visit, and then I lose connection again. The page can not be displayed is another stumbling block I come across.

And when I attempted to post the last post, via Live Writer, I had to click publish at least half a dozen times before I finally got through.

Ah well, never mind. There’s only so much one can waffle on about situations beyond one’s control, I suppose.

Anyway, I was ‘visiting’ my site through the Opera browser and noticed something very odd indeed, especially as I was then able to reach my blog through Chrome.

Here’s a quick Spot the Difference puzzle:

Notice any differences?

The picture to the left shows those who have recently commented on my blog in the Opera browser. The picture to the right shows the same, but in the Chrome browser.

It may just be a coincidence that they are both in the exact same order, but usually when I refresh the screen, the order of the gravatars is mixed up somewhat, so I’d expect the order to be different in different browsers. Having said that, coincidences abound here, so I’ll leave it at that.

A couple of those fine folk pictured have recently started commenting here, whereas others have been visiting and commenting for a while (and thank you all for calling by, by the way, I will get to your sites again soon, I promise!!!). And here’s the odd thing.

The differences, I asked you to spot.

No, ignore the fact that the image on the right is slightly higher than the image on the left, that’s just how I grabbed the screenshot – although if you did spot that you can have an extra point anyway!

The differences are with some of the images on the avatars. Some are old pictures. Older images that have since been changed. Like the one of me, fourth one down in the middle. I changed my picture ages ago, and even the current one has been tweaked somewhat over the recent months. The one with the hand and pen is me as well, but I was using another account to reply the other day as I couldn’t get access with my normal log in details. So that is recent.

How can something so recent and something so old be shown together? I assure you I have visited the exact same page in both browsers. Still, strange things happen around here… it’s probably the Mansion influencing my computer again, putting me in two different times at once. It happens!

Anyway, moving on.

    Hi Tom! 🙂

Yes, WordPress is screwed up OK, but I have had the most success visiting and leaving comments if I use the https:// prefix which is how I just got onto your blog! 🙂

This looks like the same crap we went through with the Internet Watch Foundation block list a few years back! 😦

As for your contacts list pictures: Could it be a cookie problem, or maybe the fact that different browsers store cache information separately?

That way older pictures would be stored in the cache of different browsers?

Anyway that’s not the problem, WordPress IS!!! 😦

Hope they don’t take months to fix the problem like they did last time! 😦

    God Bless my friend! 🙂

    Prenin.

After grabbing the screenshot, I went back to Opera and the pictures had mysteriously updated themselves, so I’d caught them at the right time. Really strange as I hadn’t refreshed or anything!
Hopefully, the WP problems have now been fixed… we shall see…

Hmm… I recently went through a “daylight saving time” thingie where I am. So if that temporal shift somehow leaked into your reality and messed with your temporality, I apologize…

Our temporal shift takes place in a few weeks, CM, so I have a feeling this side of the planet is going through some kind of temporal spasm right now with time being splintered all over the place. Thanks for apologising, but I’m certain there’s no need!

Very weird Sir Tom. It appears a time Warp is in action.. as the past is caught within the present.. Its been a while now since your own avatar and that of Lady P has changed .. But then nothing surprises me that happens within the walls of the Mansion… Are you sure you are not blogging from the bathroom? as I remember there was a similar phenomena from some secret door? That whisked you away through some portal .. Maybe your Wi-fi has got a touch of a solar flare with that spiral action that whips up into a vortex..
I travel by Chrome these days, as it loads faster, and gets me to my destination more accurately.. Be sure to check your date and time settings upon your PC.. I would hate to see you disappear off world all together Tom…:-)
Have a great ‘Time’ today no matter where you end up… We will see you in the Cosmic Stream! on your next fly past! 😉
    Hugs Sue x

I think that’s right, Sue. The Mansion becomes more… ‘more’… at times like this, so anything can happen. I’m close to the bathroom, but not in it. Maybe there’s an energy leak somewhere or something. I’ll investigate as soon as I finish replying to these comments!
      Hopefully, I’ll be back…

Ooooer… Strange things afoot methinks.. Or should that be at hand? The mansions not gearing up for something XFile -ish is it? Hope not, mayhap a check on your bearings.. Cosmic wise… .is in order. (Strewth…will I ever get used to this one finger typing?… Norbert’s clicking away and telling me what I ought to be typing…poor thing, I feel sorry for him y’know, can’t be easy with a crazy prodder like what I am) I think I’ll let him do the next comment on his own, 😉 Now, I hope things improve soon, or else I’ll have to use t’magic … And you never know what’ll occur then, no telling at all. I’ll pop off now, before this comment disappears like the last one… xPenx

Hang on, Sir A , the thingy at the top says I’m not following you, ERM.. have a look behind you… Am I there? 😉

I think you’re still following, Pen, although can I tell from here… I must be able to, surely? I have the option to follow my own blog up there, which seems a bit silly. Unless, the follow button is a cleverly disguised BIG RED BUTTON… ooooo…

Meant to ask,Sir A, (and I’ve searched my dashbord/ settings and since found the box to tick) but, are you finding ‘like’ on comments an asset or an extra chore? in other words, (and I do love words 😉 ) a help or a hindrance? ‘cos I wondered whether or not to use ‘it’ being as how I have this ‘thing’ about peeps who have never, ever commented and just press like and yet they ‘follow’ blogs? erm… long winded I know but what was the question again? 😉 x

I decided to use that feature in case anyone else liked a comment left by another visitor and they could click like there and then, and even though I use it, it was really meant for others. I like it, Lady P, it makes the comments more part of the blog (kind of thing…). Maybe those who just like are shy… or they may be like me, constantly playing catch up (although I do try to get a comment in every now and again!) :D.
And have you seen these new smileys? I’ve just noticed them. I’m not sure…

Great news on your mood, Lady P (and your reasons for it!). Do you think Norbert has made the smileys look this way for everyone?
