Lush Surroundings

A quick post for Illustration Friday, which I haven’t participated in for quite some time. The theme for this week is Lush.

I very quickly sketched out a scene from my mind’s eye of an area rich in greenery. It looked nothing like anything in real life, so I had a go at tweaking, twisting, lightening and darkening, removing colour, adding light effects, adding back colour and then I ended up with the image above.

It still looks like nothing in real life, but it is quite an improvement on the original, which I’ll include here:

My mind likes to take me to the strangest places at times!

  Thanks, VK. I’m back from my distant planetary excursion now, but that had nothing to do with my post apparently appearing on the wrong day – they always do! It’s good to mix things down a bit! And I’m with you with the unreal but as well, only here it’s more surreal.

Looking Good Tom, I love it and compared to your original I feel it holds more depth of light and shade giving it a more 3D look in our 3D world 🙂
I hope you are well Tom and enjoyed a relaxing Sunday, We went a run out today and ended up in my old haunting grounds of my younger years near Chatsworth House, where we saw a wonderful display from the Red Arrows, I hope you have good week

Oh, I like it! I’m not sure whether it makes me think of being on another planet; or how our landscape might look to alien eyes. Fun, regardless!
