Dream Scene

I walked through the clearing and looked ahead… the light was all wrong, and the sky was red… clouds swirled around; a storm on the way, casting animated shadows through the bright day. The breeze was warm, the time was late, there was nothing around me apart from a gate. A gate by itself, no wall or fence, in the middle of a field, this didn’t make sense. But one thing I really need to know: if the gate was open or closed. Do you know?

Hm. I believe the gate must be closed. Isn’t that the way of dreams? What else is going to happen?

I’m not sure, Tess. I fly in my dreams but never seem to remember opening or closing any doors or gates, so that would indicate they are always open. I’ve never dreamt of a gate by itself before… so maybe in this case it is closed. I wonder where it leads to…

Great one TL….I think the gate is whatever you want it to be….I’d say open as we are all wide open these days and changing rapidly….Then again, perhaps closed and this was a message for you to open up…..Love the font you are using….What is it????? Happy weekending….VK

Thanks, VK… an open gate’s always far more appealing, where a closed one provides either mystery or keep out!
The font is Le Monde something or other… I’ve treated myself to one of those upgrades, so you may see things change from time to time as I play with the settings!
Hope you’re having a great weekend as well!

They are indeed, Andra. I wonder where this one will lead to…?

Gates lead to other places and fences tend to be barriers to be overcome.

The grass is always greener isn’t it? 🙂

Thanks for the visit and comment Tom! 🙂

The worst part is the bloody dye in the socks ran while I was out and now it won’t wash off!!! 😦

It looks like I haven’t washed my feet in months! LoL!

The weekend is quiet which I’m happy about, but I’m also living on the Dracula shift so I won’t be seeing much sunshine! 😦

I’ve also managed a paper cut on the palm of my right hand so dinner (Gammon) will have to be handled using rubber gloves to prevent infection from the raw meat… 😦

Hope you have a great Bank Holiday Tom! 🙂

    God Bless!

    Prenin.

You’re right, Prenin… fences are the barriers, gates allow us through.
However, in this clearing the grass is all the same around the gate…
Hope you get the dye out of your feet soon, Prenin! 😀 And happy BH weekend to you too. I’d forgotten about that!

Oh yes, Sir Aquatom, ’twas open, and it makes perfect sense to moi’… but then I love mystery doors/gates/apertures they could lead to all manner of adventures… 🙂 Lovely moody poem, a feeling of other worldly sense… xPenx

Thank you, Pen. Yes, it leads to another world, definitely… but where?

anywhere we like, Sir A, mayhap it reads our minds and wishes and voila’ we’re there, or alternatively, where we don’t want to go? 😉

I think where we want to go is by far the better option, Lady P… 😉

Thanks, Gabriel. Maybe it will lead to the land where your recent surprise painting is set… I’m still trying to get the story!

The gate is closed, or so it would seem.
But it’s a distraction in your dream.
No fence nor wall to hinder your step.
Maneuver around it, continue your schlep!

Thanks, CM, for your wise poetic words… and you’re absolutely right – we don’t need to go through it at all, we can simply go round!

If CS Lewis is to be believed, Tom, it was closed but not locked. Thus the choice to walk through it is yours entirely…

Whether you walked around that gate or through it Tom, at least you would not be locked in or out.

Love the picture that came with the post…it does lend a surreal feel to the words 🙂 A gate in a field, no wall and no fence. A block that is not really and obstacle. Just need to look around for an option that is there but you haven’t seen it yet? Another way out?
