The Comet

The sky was clear, not a cloud in sight.

It was also warm; odd, considering the time of the year.

I couldn’t sleep, hence noticing the clarity and temperature. I looked out of the window and everywhere looked the same.

Darkness; shadows; but with a clear view.

My attention was drawn to something… a flicker in the sky. Something that I knew normally shouldn’t have been there, but there it was.

A dim blur, yet bright against the blackness of the early morning sky. I’d have missed it if I wasn’t looking in that direction… or awake, at that time…

I do like to believe it’s a sign of a spirit, pure essence gone by, Sir Aquatom… … flying high, to who knows where? The Universe is endless… (Is that another song lyric??..) … and as they’ve now decided that the Big Bang Theory where The Whole will eventually collapse back upon itself like an elastic band, (is that something like a rock band only more bendy?) is not correct, mayhap there are endless places to visit? I wanna be a comet… the amazing photo’s from various space probes showing pictures of the Solar System, with such beautiful arrays of colour and depth, makes no sense at all, without having eyes to see and experience it first hand … Our human bodies are too frail for the radiation levels up there, but as a comet?… Endless possibilities… 🙂 xPenx

  I think a comet would have a lonely existence, actually, Pen… floating around in space for years on end. That is until they pass a planet like ours, and we’re all excited to see it!

Aww…I would have really enjoyed your little experiment 😦 This actually sounded real life to me..even though you mentioned that the ‘warm” would have given a hint…but I wouldn’t have known that being all the way on this side of the earth..it’s been HOT every day!! Hrrumph! (that was for the weather over here)

  I know you always say your weather is the same all year round, Shree, but I can’t imagine what that would be like. Recently, we’ve had persistent cold and snow, it’s still snowing in some places here as well, but within that we had some sunny days. Yes, they too were sub-zero temperature-wise. Maybe this change to the jet stream may have an effect on your weather as well. Better, I mean.
