Anticipation

The room was full. Packed to the rafters.

People had come from far and wide to hear me sing. How word had reached that far was beyond me.

I don’t sing.

I can’t sing.

My stomach was in knots as the lighting was turned down. The guitarist was already on stage, warming up: but he didn’t know the song I was about to sing. My singing partner said that it would be fine. We would improvise. We did well with our spoons earlier that week, she said.

There was no turning back.

The crowd were anticipating something good.

Not me…

    That’s a pretty pickle of a predicament.

I used to be able to carry a tune – in a bucket – but since Sarah gave me a bug that had cost her, her voice I found my singing skills had become a memory.

Be glad they can’t hear me in church when EVERYONE sings! LoL!!!

    God Bless my friend!

    Prenin.

If I have to sing in a group, Prenin, no-one hears me.
      I mime.

    Love this!

But I am left thinking ‘is it all in his mind he can’t sing & he blows them away’ or can he really not sing, so AAAARGHH.

Great one – I feel the fear! 🙂

Stagefright – the feeling we never did know anything, never could do anything, whatever “it” is. Yu’ve got a downside of anticipation in here.

A downside from one angle, Elspeth… some of the crowd may have been anticipating terrible singing! 😉

I’ve had dreams like that. Fortunately it hasn’t happened to me in real life… yet…

Definitely a twist on “anticipation”. 🙂

Exactly! Giving the audience what they wanted! The place wouldn’t have been that full if I was any good anyway, Icewolf!

Is this true? I have to know, because I recognize myself in this description. Nothing scares me more than singing in public.

I’d likely freeze on stage. But you, I don’t think you would. I think you’d be a natural out there. 🙂

Deb, I’d be a natural at the back of the stage in the shadows! Being in the spotlight isn’t my cup of tea at all! 😀
