Paragraph One by Tomliam Merriman
Tomliam Merriman writes: Hello. I’d like to introduce myself. My name, if you haven’t already guessed, is Tomliam Merriman. It’s a name you may be seeing more of in the not so distant future… possibly and hopefully a lot more of.
Aquatom1968 writes: I’ve decided to go by a more distinct and ‘proper’ sounding nom de plume, and as noms de plume go, I think I’ve nailed it with that one!
Aquatom1968 is still my on-line identity, and of course, you all know me as Tom, and can call me such if you so prefer. You can call me anything really, I don’t mind. Much. I don’t mind much, I mean. I mean, I don’t want you to call me Much or anything. But you could, if you so wanted to, I suppose. Anyway, now that that’s sorted, on to my nom de plume.
A quick-fire question and answer session with Tomliam Merriman follows:
Why have a nom de plume? is the question I can hear you ask. Isn’t Aquatom1968 (the name of one of the greatest superheroes of all time) already a nom de plume? I hear you add. I’ll answer both questions in one go. Aquatom1968 would not be a good name to have on a book. Imagine ‘Lord of the Rings’ by Aquatom1968 compared to ‘Lord of the Rings’ by Tomliam Merriman – or even T L Merriman. Not that I would ever write a book called ‘Lord of the Rings’ for obvious reasons.
Why Tomliam Merriman? What’s that all about? Thank you person at the back there! A quick explanation here, before everyone’s eyes glaze over. Tomliam is made of my first and middle name (confidentiality prevents me from going any further) and Merriman is almost similar to my surname. It’s completely different, but almost similar in a funny kind of way.
Could you please explain why you are also using T L Merriman? Certainly! Thank you for asking, person at the side there… T L Merriman is for the serious stuff, and Tomliam for the more light-hearted and less serious stuff. I think Tomliam may be busier.
Will Tomliam be writing music, songs or musicals? What on Earth makes you ask that, person at the front? What a random question… but in response, never say never! Hell may freeze over first, but anything is possible…
Basically that’s it! One step closer to writing my book I have been toying with for the past few hundred years or so. Centuries, more like!

Another Me! to add to the forever growing aspects of me that I have lurking – or cohabiting – within this ‘little shell with funny hair’ that randomly types away at this keyboard. I’ll keep the five Me’s in this blog’s title for now – oh, and speaking of blogs, Tomliam Merriman has his own spin-off blog here. There’s nothing in it yet, but I don’t think that will always be the case! Watch that space!
Tomliam Merriman now returns control of this blog to Aquatom1968.
Aquatom1968 is now signing off for the day… Feel Good now!
