Storm Front

Blustery winds and teeming rain
Torrents of water flow
The roads are more like rivers
Swirling and weaving as they go

Trees are almost bent in two
As the gale-force wind howls by
Raindrops pound the ground below
From the dark and turbulent sky

Visibility is virtually nil
The road ahead is grey
The wind lifts and blows and takes control
On this cold storm-ravaged day

No snow today but lots of cold, cold rain
And daylight just about peering through
With an eerie twilight all day long
I’d say it’s winter now; wouldn’t you?

Turbulence

Very good Tom, yes I agree, winter is looking down upon us….. here in Illinois, we are calling for about 1 inch of the white stuff by morning…. but as you know, they are almost always wrong, one way or another. Last year I remember the weather man calling for about a ground covering by morning, ha-ha, the next morning we had about 5-6 inches and blowing snow on us…. lol. So, I never know who or what to believe anymore…. lol. I might believe you thou…… you can be as good as the weather man……..

Thanks, Ed… the only problem with my weather forecasting abilities is the fact that I report on as it is now… not handy if you want to make plans or anything, but one hundred per cent accurate! Well, most of the time anyway! 😀

Ooo love what you described…can just imagine sitting at home, with a hot drink, lights turned low, with a good book, soothing music…definitely not a day to be outdoors!

I love the new music too! 😀

Shree, being at home is far better than being out in it! 😀
Although, having said that, I do like to be out in the elements!
Thanks, Shree, I like the music too 😀 (Although it has absolutely nothing to do with me – I only chose it!)

Yes the weather has certainly showed us
that winter is here, cold and wet, windy and
with a threat of snow also…

A fine addition to your Space Aquatom 🙂

Thank you, Andro. I think we’ve had every combination of weather imaginable today, and then some! 🙂

Thank you, Jo, and thank you for the award!
I can’t pass the award on to anyone else, as I have great troubles singling out one blog from another, but, as a get around, I always say that any of the blogs I visit are worthy of the award.
Anybody reading this comment wondering what the award is? Go and check out Jo’s blog for more details! 😀

Very good poem. I can see it in my head. I like the part saying that the wind “takes control” because it shows how stormy it is. I’ve been out when the wind is pushing you around and you can hardly walk straight.

I was out in a wind like that once, Duck, when it hit me squarely in the face and I couldn’t breathe out. That was a frightening experience, until I remembered that I could still turn around! Thanks for your comment! 😀

Great poem 🙂 It’s a dramatic time, Tom: my brother’s opposite Mull and we have been crossing our fingers…I can’t help wondering, if it hit London, would more fuss be made about it?

Thanks, Kate. I’m not sure if a fuss would be made or not, to be honest. Possibly if all of the power was out, but maybe not for the storm. Having said that, the news broadcasters would have probably had a reporter standing in the midst of the storm, trying to report what is going on (they always seem to have to need to have someone there now, have you noticed?)

Please teach me to time travel so that I can write poetry like this, Tom.

Andra, do you think it’s a side effect of time travelling? 😉
I believe you can write rhymes like this (I don’t class what I write as poetry, I just pull words together… ‘proper’ poets in my opinion do more than that). Have a go, and see what you come up with, and if you feel you really need a lesson in time travelling, I’ll start with the Quantum Slip method… 😀
