Dear Diary… I have had an extremely long and enjoyable Saturday today; just what the doctor has ordered!
The afternoon was spent mostly chilling out, which, Diary, is by far my favourite pastime, and shopping. The weekly trip to Sainsbury’s was upon me (other supermarkets are available), and I wasn’t mistaken for any celebrities this time. In fact, apart from weighing down the conveyor belt at the till, causing it to run very slowly indeed, nothing happened in Sainsbury’s worth writing about. There weren’t any special offers on, I had a wonderfully smooth trolley, and didn’t have to wait at the checkout (apart from for the conveyor belt to chug along, that is).
I was debating whether to go and finally get my hair cut, and decided that I wouldn’t bother. My hair is that bad now, another week or two isn’t going to make any difference, and sitting in a barber’s chair for half an hour while someone trimmed away at my hair wasn’t an appealing choice for me, chilling-out wise. So, I’ll put up with bits sticking out here and there for another few weeks at least. I don’t mind telling you, Diary, that I’m kind of getting used to the long haired rocker look I have going on with my hair. Well, the hair on the right side of my head anyway. The left side still needs a bit of work as it is starting to curl out to the side.
The weather today has been glorious. Looking at the date on the top of the page, June 5th, is… June 5th? Drat! I’ve started on the wrong page. Harrumph! Well, can’t stop now, so I’ll carry on regardless… The weather today has been glorious, for October 15th. Not as warm as the other week, but amazingly good for October. And considering we are in for snow in a couple of weeks it seems unlikely. Having said that though, I was pelted by hailstones the size of meteors on the Thursday after the hottest October day since records began the other week. I like hail, but not being caught out in it.
Diary, talking of the weather, I just thought that I’d mention the time, many years ago, when I was walking to school and it started to rain. Not exactly a diary kind of thing to write about, especially decades after it occurred, but the big hailstone reminded me of the day back then. I walked along the road, and heard a large splat behind me. Then, there was another over the road. A third before me, and then another one, behind again. Raindrops were falling that were the size of water melons. I had never seen before – or since – water droplets so huge. Now that was the type of rain that would get you wet, but luckily, that day, I was able to dodge the raindrops with the greatest of ease. It’s a pity that I couldn’t dodge the hailstone in the same manner the other week. Thinking about it now, though, it was probably a good idea not to get my hair cut back then, because it cushioned the blows of the hailstones as they hit my head.
Thank you for listening, Diary. Do you listen? Or do you simply absorb the words as I write them? Don’t let the fact that I have written out of time bother you… I am always out of time, between time and around time in some way or another. Today, I have written about a day long gone on a page intended for another day, now gone as well. I wonder what happened on June 5th? I’m curious now. I’ll go and check, and get back to you. Probably some time in October, but you never can tell. I think I have just found another way for travelling through time. Hmmm…
