Oh, no, no, no… you can’t use the elevator to go down… that’s why we have a special carriage here called the Descender. It descends from the fortieth floor down to the ground floor, no stopping at other floors. It saves time when you need to leave. It runs on the hour.
But I’m on the twentieth floor. Do I have to walk down from here?
Oh, of course not! What a silly notion. No, to go down, you first have to go up. It’s that simple. Take the elevator to the fortieth floor, and then wait for the next Descender.
But it’s only 2:15. It’s a while off ‘on the hour’.
That’s why we have our fine restaurant on the top floor. Or the café if you want a snack. Or, you could spend your time browsing our patented clock shop. That’s one way you’ll pass the time.
No thanks, I’ll walk. I need the exercise, as it happens.
