Time to Breathe

Come with me.

It’s just a short walk, along this path and then just ahead, under the bridge.

Can you smell the freshness?

The sound of the waterfall echoing through the trees here is magical. I hope you can feel it; it’s the first thing I notice when I reach here.

The ripples in the water reflect the dappled sunlight as it beams in through the trees, adding a touch of comfortable warmth to the cool moist shade. The musical chiming sounds from the water as it falls into the secluded pool provide an underscore to the hundreds of birds hidden and chirping away in the trees.

Even with the noise, it seems quiet and peaceful.

We’ll sit here, on these cool white stones and put our feet into the water… slowly does it, it may be a little too cold… no, it’s just nice. Perfect, in fact.

Comfortable?

Close your eyes. Feel the sounds, don’t just hear them. Blend with the ambience of the place… become one with it.

Take the time to take a nice breath. Feel the breath. Air, in and out, in and out, slowly. Enjoy your breathing.

Enjoy your time here.

Stay as long as you would like to. Know this is your time, and you have nothing to rush for in your time.

You’ll know when it’s time to return.

Stand where the water breaks upon the stone, and breathe the Lenard. That scent of a waterfall is negative ions, and it’s called the Lenard Effect. Isn’t that just the most wondrous thing.

I’ve never heard of that before, M. It sounds amazing. I wonder if it’s a similar effect with a heavy downpour of rain? Hmmm…

Similar, yes, but that process is called petrichor and the bacterial compound from the soil that creates that distinctive scent is called geosmin.

And now it’s break time! Or is that lunchtime! 😂
