One Journey

I closed my eyes and took a train journey with people I haven’t seen for years. Only, I couldn’t get off at my stop, I was blocked, and needed to carry on to the next city. There, I saw more people who I once knew.

I saw a specialist novelty arts shop, which oddly had everything I didn’t know I needed: a hexagonal fold out trivia quiz in multiple layers for £4.00, a smaller padded version with pop out questions for a remarkable 29p, celebratory white silk flowers with detachable petals which naturally come loose (I picked up two of these), and blue versions of the petals were included with the trivia packs, funnily enough – although I didn’t know this until later. I also picked up a small wooden box (unfinished) and three very pointed red pencils.

To pay, I carried all items on the wooden box, having to pick up the pencils a couple of times as I kept dropping them, fortunately they all kept their points.

At the place where I didn’t know I was going to (I’m in the wrong city, don’t forget) 1970’s Cheryl Ladd was on reception, and inside there were a lot more people who I knew, who were waiting for the trivia game to begin.

I lost, and eventually had to walk back to the platform to get the train to return to now.

So, although nothing actually happened in the moment that I closed my eyes, quite a lot kind of did.
