Matthew Mist settled into his chair in the Security Suite of the Elixir Spa Resort Hotel and Leisure Complex, after untangling a knot of cables and wires that now connected the surrounding walls of monitors to a console on the desk in the centre of the room.
He pressed the ‘on’ button, and the screens lit and filled with various images from around the complex – some live, others recorded from the security cameras he’d installed in every room and at various points outside; one of the images caught his attention: Bubblegum and The Lady chatting in the restaurant in, he noticed, a recent recording.
With another couple of buttons on the console, Matthew selected this camera and the wall of different images in front of him was replaced by the one image from the restaurant; he pressed a fourth button to zoom into the table.
He hears The Lady ask what causes Bubblegum to have such a wicked temper, and realising their conversation wasn’t any kind of a plot, decides to try to select another camera, although he was curious to know how Bubblegum would answer the question.
He hears Bubblegum explain about the sweets she gives out to everyone, and is then shocked to hear that she has been exerting some kind of hypnotic mind control on everyone as well.
However, he hears Bubblegum say “I’ll be right as rain tomorrow,” and instantly selects another scene in the complex to watch, thinking a private conversation really was none of his business.

Denise’s word for Six Sentence Stories this week is ‘knot’. And I finally manage to get the image finished so I could post this Six Sentence Story, without being plunged into darkness due to the most unexpected of power cuts to ever happen. I’m now thinking maybe Matthew Mist had something to do with hit – with those hot cables of his, not to mention all of those hot television screens he’s put up around the room… he’s probably syphoned off all the power to use them. You have to watch these supervillains, you know!
The video at the beginning of this post is the opening sequence to a TV series that may or may not come to pass – it’s for season one. I’m still working on season two, I have to fit the work in between hours of darkness…
