…say what they mean but look as though they shouldn’t.
Serendipity
Gobbledegook
Stupendous
Bewitching
Elucidate
Ambiguous
And an extra one that really, really doesn’t…
Zenzizenzizenzic – which, as we all know means the eighth power of a number. For example, 8X8X8X8X8X8X8X8 = 16,777,216. 16,777,216 is a zenzizenzizenzic number.
So, serendipity was disturbed by all this gobbledegook regarding the stupendous word zenzizenzizenzic, although this bewitching post helps to elucidate and remove anything that may be ambiguous.
Posted for Debbie’s Six Word Saturday.
Hehe, Tom, I like your choices, although you sent me off down a rabbit hole. To me gobbledegook looks quite ‘gobbledekookish’ and I was looking for the word to describe a word that looks like what it means. Closest I could find is ‘iconicity’. I’d never come across ‘zenzizenzizenzic’. I shall be struggling to use that one 😉
Hooray for new words! 🙂

I see what you mean about ‘gobbledegook’, Chris, but to me it also looks like some kind of edible bird. Must just be my mind. ‘Iconicity’ is a good find, but I’m sure there is another word for it (although I can’t think of it right now! However, I will investigate for a future post 😀 )
Zenzizenzizenzic, although new to me, is a very old word, but how many other words could there be with six Zs in them? 🙂

Oh, THAT gobbledegook – the green goose native to a small corner of Wigan 😀
Zenzizenzizenzic may be the proud owner of many Zs, but it’s no good for Scrabble!

😀 That’s the one! 🙂
(and you’re right about the zed word too.)

Excellent serendipitous gobbledegook for my Saturday morning. FYI – Your comments cleared at this end – none in spam.

Thanks, Frank. Gobbledegook’s good!
It must be your comments on my site that I’m having problems with, or rather the notifications of them. I’ll have a look at the settings… it seems to be only you, which is very, very strange, if you ask me!
Have a good Saturday!

I have a fairly extensive vocabulary but I’d never even seen the z word before. But I doubt I’ll have many situations where it could be used, so I guess that’s okay. The others are all good, though. 🙂

Thanks, Janet. I think the z word would be a conversation stopper if it was just ‘slipped in’ anyway! 🤣
Have a fabulous Sunday. 🙂

I learn something new every day! I’ll never be able to remember or spell it; but I did learn what zenziwhatever meant! 😉

It will come to you at the time you need it most, Diane! Although I’m not sure when anybody would need to use the power of eight, but the thoughts there now! 🙂

Awesome post, Tom. And wow! I’m glad I learned a new word today, “elucidate”. Can’t believe I haven’t heard that one in all my years! Just when you think you’ve learned them all…

There’s always something to learn, Cherie. 🙂 Especially here at the Mansion… although that could also easily work with ‘forgotten’! 😊
Welcome!
