Lately, I’ve been a little inconsistent with my blogging. I try to post something as often as I can, but sometimes the day is over before I’ve had chance to type a single letter! But I try, just as I try to visit at least a couple of blogs I follow each day as well.
This morning, however, I’ve noticed another issue, this time with the WordPress Reader. There’s a filter on there, which allows me to search through the blogs I follow, which I think is useful if I realise I haven’t seen a post from a particular blogger for a while. Well, I think that’s how the filter should work. Not all the blogs I follow appear in the filter, which isn’t very useful. Also some of the blogs within the filter have numbers beside them, for which I have no idea why. I’ll have to consult the WordPress App user guide, if such a thing exists, to find out the reason for this. If I’m just expected to know, well, I don’t, and that’s all I can say on that!
Another issue confused me this morning. I found a post in the reader. Read the post. Liked the post. Commented on the post. I then returned to the reader, where the post didn’t show my like. So, I clicked Like again, thinking perhaps maybe I hadn’t clicked it originally, and the post vanished from the reader completely.
There’s an option to view my Likes within the app, and the post, luckily, was there, so I have liked it, but it has vanished without a trace from my main reader.
This has me a little worried in case other posts are vanishing from my reader, especially if the post is from one of the blogs that doesn’t appear in my filter.
So, for now, it seems, I may be missing posts.
My Inner Detective is on the case, looking into things, but if I miss a post due to this reason I will apologise profusely now. I’ll also apologise for the posts I miss on the days I don’t manage to get into Blogland, although, subject to the point above, I will try my best to catch up.
An odd Six Word Saturday post.
Indeed.
App?? Noooooooo. I have to use by laptop, old fogey technophobe that I am 😉
I’ve also found some quirks with the likes and comments, almost like there’s a delayed reaction. That might be the ‘unrobust’ tech here though.

I’m seeing that delayed reaction too, Chris. Can’t fathom what’s going on with the reader though… 🤔

I never got the hang of the filter/search. I just scroll and hope for the best. I get an email notification for the people whose blogs I really don’t want to miss (like yours).

I may have to go for the email notification as well. If the posts don’t appear in the reader, I wonder if it will work though!
I can’t see anything in the settings which would remove the sites, so I’m now wondering if WordPress is using the same technology that Google use, where they bring back the results they think I’m after, not the ones I want… 🤔 that’s how it seems.
I think I’ll try unfollowing and re-following to see if that works.
My Inner Detective is loving this…

Refollowing seems to have helped for now…

If you ever find out what’s happening drop me a line – the reader is definitely having moments. In the last squares challenge a few regular readers found they had been unfollowed from my blog and so I was no longer in reader – but neither I or they had clicked on that unfollow option. It is so weird

I haven’t found anything so far, Becky… but I’ll keep looking!

There’s been strange things going on in WP for quite a while now…They are part of the system so it doesn’t surprise me that posts are disappearing…It’s too bad all of this is happening. VK

It’s frustrating, VK. But then, I should just let that frustration go and cut the ties from that control.

Sounds like a good plan. We really have no control over anything but ourselves and our actions. I hope you get to the bottom of it…Happy weekend! VK 🙂

Thanks VK… Happy Weekend to you too!

It seems the some people, add WordPress, think we can’t think for ourselves and they need to think for us. It really is getting bad.

It’s a tad concerning, Beverly. Artificial intelligence, if that’s what it is, isn’t as intelligent as I’d prefer it to be…

There’s all sorts of bizarreness in WordPress in recent months. They Keep Changing Things, and it seems to me that They’re Doing So Without Enough Testing. Whenever I go to WordPress.com support and ask for help, it’s a struggle to get them to admit that there’s anything wrong… and even when they do, their response is invariably either “Oh, it must be something to do with your system” or “You’re the only one who’s reported this” (which really means “… so we’re not going to bother looking into it”).
Talking about ‘likes’, one thing that’s been bugging me lately is that sometimes when I visit a blog and click ‘like’ on a comment, I get a window that pops up, then goes away… and there’s no ‘like’ from me. I have to do it two or three times to get the like to ‘stick’; and then, once it does, I can ‘like’ other comments with no trouble. Until I visit another’s blog, and then it’ll happen again. WordPress.com ‘support’ has given me both of the responses above to that one. There’s clearly something wrong, but they have no interest at all in discovering the cause, let alone fixing it.
There’s plenty of fodder out there for your Inner Detective. Stay curious! 🙂

I contacted them about a problem recently, and they told me to clear the cache… which worked! 😒
This reader thing seems to be on three different devices, so it has to be on an account level rather than a caching one. I’ll keep delving.
I’ve noticed the odd pop up jumpy thing when liking posts as well. Maybe it’s time for the cogs to be oiled, or something!

Quite possibly… or they have larger wheels with fewer hamsters…

I continually have trouble with my reader AND my entire WordPress account. Lol. They have helped me through a few things but I still encounter repeat issues. 🤷♀️ The life of the internet user

At least the quirks pass the time, I suppose. Time which should have been spent doing other ‘internetty’ things, but a change is as good as a rest! 😀

So tired, Tom! And I’ve had wine. Not a good combination. (though it depends if you’re the one doing the drinking 🙂 )

I don’t use the Reader and prefer receiving notifications in my email for those blogs I follow. With that said, I keep losing those I follow and have to refollow them, and I notice several have refollowed my blog, as well. The WP peeps seem to think all is well on their end and it is our system that is causing the issues. Reeeealllly! Make it a great day, Tom!

Thanks, Eugenia, I’m having a leisurely Sunday… I hope you’re enjoying yours too! 🙂
I suppose it could be all our systems causing the issues, each and every one of them… 🤔🙄 but it’s all very convenient! 🙂

Hi Tom! 🙂 ❤
Because I’m on Facebook a lot I got in the habit of holding down the left shift key when I hit return, but on WordPress anything with shifted returns in it vanishes in the comment.

WordPress is a work in progress my friend!!!

Blessed Be! 🙂 ❤
